25-581 25-5343 CERTIORARI GRANTED ST. MARY CATHOLIC PARISH, ET AL. V. ROY, LISA, ET AL. The petition for a writ of certiorari is granted limited to Questions 1 and 2 presented by the petition. BEAIRD, KENDRICK J. V. UNITED STATES The motion of petitioner for leave to proceed in forma 2 pauperis is granted. The petition for a writ of certiorari is granted limited to the following question: Whether Stinson v. United States, 508 U. S. 36 (1993), still correctly states the rule for the deference that courts must give the commentary to the Sentencing Guidelines.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court takes up two new cases for next term, including a case over Colorado’s exclusion of Catholic preschools from public funding.
The case specifically raises a question the court has circled around for years: Whether 1990’s Employment Division v. Smith should be overruled.
This should be a bigger story.

Palantir V @PalantirTech X.com Because we get asked a lot. The Technological Republic, in brief. 1. Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible. The engineering elite of Silicon Valley has an affirmative obligation to participate in the defense ot the nation. 2. We must rebel against the tyranny of the apps. Is the iPhone our greatest creative if not crowning achievement as a civilization? The object has changed our lives, but it may also now be limiting and constraining our sense of the possible. 3. Free email is not enough. The decadence of a culture or civilization, and indeed its ruling class, will be forgiven only if that culture is capable of delivering economic growth and security for the public.
🧵 Why is Palantir advising on foreign policy?
This bit is interesting:
“National service should be a universal duty. We should, as a society, seriously consider moving away from an all-volunteer force and only fight the next war if everyone shares in the risk and the cost”

Barrera said her husband said the smell of human feces in the toilet caused a fellow detainee to vomit and, in turn, created a chain of people vomiting. She said her husband is asthmatic and has not received medication to treat his condition. The lack of medicine and the stress of the overcrowded holding cell has left him short of breath and teetering on the edge of an asthma attack, Barrera said. ICE did not immediately respond to questions on April 10 about the conditions of the Mesa or Phoenix facilities. After the publication of this article, Barrera told The Arizona Republic her husband was transferred to the ICE facility at San Luis Regional Detention Center at about midnight. The San Luis Regional Detention Center is in Southwestern Arizona and has the capacity to hold 700 people.
This is horrific. A U.S. citizen describes the facility in Arizona that her husband was brought to while he waited to be put on a deportation flight. Dozens of people were crammed into tiny cells, there was a "chain of people vomiting" from filthy toilets, no medical care, and only one meal per day.

Transgender discrimination is, by its very nature, sex discrimination. Discrimination based on sex is expressly prohibited under Montana’s unique Nondiscrimination Clause––“[n]either the state nor any person, firm, corporation, or institution shall discriminate on account of . . . sex . . . .” Thus, Article II, Section 4 is unequivocal in its intolerance for discrimination based on sex. Because sex discrimination involves a fundamental right under Article II, the appropriate level of judicial review is strict scrutiny. Snetsinger, ¶ 17. ¶28 Being transgender is also a suspect class under the Equal Protection Clause of Article II, Section 4,––“[n]o person shall be denied equal protection of the law.”
MONTANA SUPREME COURT: “Transgender discrimination is, by its very nature, sex discrimination,” and is subject to strict scrutiny under the Montana Constitution.

A digital screenshot of a news article from "The Independent" website, dated April 13, 2026. The headline reads: "Trump gets McDonalds DoorDashed to White House and then takes Iran war questions with delivery person." Below the headline, the subheader states: "Trump grabs two bags of McDonald’s before issuing threats to Iran over nuclear program." The article features a video still showing Donald Trump standing outdoors in front of a white building, wearing a dark suit and purple tie. Next to him stands a woman wearing a red t-shirt that says "DOORDASH GRANDMA." The video player includes a title overlay that reads: "Trump claims offensive Jesus meme was him 'as a doctor' healing the sick."
