Gobsmacked my 8 year old recognized the Sydney Opera House in Mario Kart 8. She explains: “I know curves and stuff because you explain boring things to me.”
Please do not unquestionably repeat executives’ dubious claims that they just HAD to lay off thousands due to AI efficiency gains. (Note that the linked article is actually more carefully phrased.) Quoted post gets ONE mulligan because “Meat” made me LOL.

My kid assumes any invocation of time means “we won’t make it, so just give up.” This is a puzzle yet to be solved.

Inspired by the responses in this post -- okay, GM's, what are you keeping all your world-building stuff in? Using one of the dedicated sites? I've got everything in a player-facing Google Drive folder. Did I watch Youtube videos to learn to make character sheets in Google Sheets Of COURSE I did.
custom Google map of post apocalyptic Philadelphia
Between sessions, I take think-aloud notes by hand and doodle maps/NPCs in Rhodia notebooks with multicolor pens. Feels more like “fun fun” than “lonely fun.”
I put player-facing wordbuilding details in a shared Google Sheet with session recaps, and also in locations of custom Google Maps.
Kennedy canceled $500 million in mRNA research and announced no new mRNA projects will ever be initiated—killing the technology that produced the fastest vaccine rollout in human history.
“When people with ‘empathy’ in their job description say it helps others to use alt text, I assume their true motive is to make me feel bad” is certainly a thing some might say on the internet.
I wish BlueSky would require alt text by default. Expensively automating (bad) captions is no solution.
This link’s about the street-level popularity of VRchat and what I find fascinating is that Zuckerberg And his ilk looked at this deeply touching human experience and then wasted $80 billion dollars trying to make legless conference rooms and shopping malls. Their own impoverished souls doomed them.
I understand that Democratic leadership sees a failed impeachment vote as politically problematic, but I also think it may be even more dangerous to shrug and move on like nothing happened after the president openly threatened genocide. time.com/article/2026...
Review on a game I designed: “Nice! A new 2400 game is like warm noodles on a cold night.”
I have a folder titled “Nice Things” where I put screenshots to cheer me up and boost my confidence. (Maybe you could use one too.)
Thanks to Jacob, whoever you are, for the entry that made me smile today.
Forget it, Rob, it’s Blueskytown

Truly a testament to this administration’s backstabbing, heartlessness, and incompetence that we can rule out neither “she’s trying to get out in front of something” nor “somebody in the White House calculated that they were better off with Epstein dominating the news than Iran.”
What is zonecore?
Creating Exclusion Zone Botanist led me to search for the origins and critical works of the genre, including Roadside Picnic.
Here are five elements of zonecore and a list of tabletop games for inspiration: omnes.exeunt.press/p/what-is-zo...

Phew! All clear! Back to work, everyone! Situation normal until next time the war criminal in chief promises genocide.
THIS.
For all the people living in a world where thy really believe why didn’t happen couldn’t happen. That fool spoke this out loud into the world with his whole chest, and when you’re in a powerful position of responsibility and authority, what you say you might do matters.
I don’t believe that I can accomplish my political aims by denouncing my country’s dangerous, right-wing leaders on social media, so I don’t usually bother—but today feels like an especially important day to state that Donald Trump should not have control of a nuclear arsenal.
i've been quite skeptical of manned spaceflight but we have big machines that turn pilots and scientists into poets and i think we should keep using them
The Times deliberately left out, "Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH!"
An appalling omission from a media outlet actively trying to help President Trump.

I asked what was behind the illusion and plumbed the far reaches of her absolutely bonkers cosmology.
“Raise your hand if you think life is an illusion,” my 8 year old said at dessert. I really expected to have a few more years before I had to field this one.
I hope these “all the money goes to the billionaire” rules apply even if there’s no player controlling the billionaire, for maximum unfairness
First edition was a big inspiration for me 👀
I'm looking for folks to staff my booth at cons throughout the year. They'd need to be familiar with Cairn, obviously.
DM me or email warden@cairnpress.ink if you're interested and I'll send you a form to fill out.
Yes! I feel like the PlayStation Spider-Man games give a hint of one way to conceptualize that, even—sort of “NYC gridcrawl” with random encounters, faction quests, escort quests, etc.
