It's definitely also my personal taste because a rebellious reluctant hero is Right up my alley and exactly the kind of character I'd make anyway. But it still impresses me how well it just. Works. And made Rook a legitimate fav character of mine

HoF is wonderful but also dated in execution. Hawke is too restrictive. Inquisitor is close to being really good but the origins feel incredibly underbaked... Rook toes the line between all of them REALLY WELL though.

I still have a lot of Veilguard to play but genuinely think they (almost) perfected the balance between set and custom protagonist with Rook. There's space to make them my own while still letting them be as much of a fleshed out character as anyone else

But also I get it. You can't really advertise Actually talking out and resolving conflicts nearly as well because that's much harder to guarantee than just saying "we'll shut it down ASAP". But spaces that do so appeal to me way more

Any space with different people is going to have conflict and misunderstandings! And ime "no drama" policies just incentivize anyone affected by them to quietly leave or ignore it instead of solving it because any conflict tarnishes The Image
