In the end I settled on "the bootyshorts are a virus that can infect the viewer" which I don't think solves any problems but at least introduces some asymmetricality into the situation.

And I could say "end the game by covering the bootyshorts," but that puts the burden on the shortswearer!

Also this! This of all things! This was the game that forced me to think the hardest about consent in TTRPGs!

The game is played by looking at a piece of worn clothing, which means the player role is theoretically nebulous!

I did warn everyone! I am posting about the horse thing but I also have several design crimes in my one game release per week quiver!

What if you wanted to release a ridiculous ttrpg concept this evening but itchio cloudflare hosting said no.

Animals do play games, and sometimes games that imply an imagination component. But both communication and a mutual understanding of the object of play would be tricky

Like, I think I could train someone to play dnd by giving them an apple when they roll well, but it wouldn't really be playing dnd.

At the point in the design process where I'm wondering if there's some way I could ask a horse for feedback on the game.

The process by which games originate is either carefully considered construction or someone did something weird once and it was funny so we repeated the behavior.
