Did Mateta & Sarr imorove us today? I don’t think they did. JSL looks good, Johnson looks devoid of any confidence. He reminds me of Esse against Millwall. A broken man. I think he needs pre season tbh.

All about managing the minutes. We ran JPM to exhaustion is the first half of the season. TBH, it’s the wholesale changes across the front 5 I don’t like as much. It makesit look too much like the game plan is to frustrate and let the hero team win it.
I get the impression he works best with players close to him. Mateta is better at stretching defences, JSL much tidier, and seems to have a great understanding with Wharton. Kamada, Sarr & Pino is who he needs around him, but Mateta & Sarr are lethal together too.
Yeah, he’s been fine. He was great in his first few games. He does a lot of clever stuff without throwing his weight around. Reminds me of Benteke a little bit, but with a bit more energy. I’m not sure he’s as suited to our style of play as Mateta, but he’s not doing much wrong.
He needs one off his arse… or a full pre season. His last couple of starts have reminded me of Esse against Millwall.
It is really sad isn’t it. Even if he’s not a £35m player he’s much better than this. I’ve seen enough of him over the years to know he’s got lots to offer us.
Jaydee Canvot could be every bit as good as Marc Guehi if he keeps his head straight. Reminds me very much of Marc’s first few months at Palace.
That game in hand is far more likely to be a hit to our GD than any sniff of a point!
Tbf, that’s always been the premise of the MNF. It’s a round up of the weekends games with a pair of undesirable teams playing each other at the end.
It’s Nuno, they’d have worked on set plays and Bowen centred breaks. He’s their Zaha, and they’ll stay up because of him. I think they’ll take a draw tbh.
I’ve no idea if mine changed at any point, but if you’re on 7,700 you’re a better fan than me by 40 points, so I imagine we’ll be in the same boat, hoping there’s a 7,500 point window and it doesn’t jump from 8,000 to 6,000 or something silly.
I’m hoping Pino can start thrive too. So much promise without the returns to match. I think we might have another deep block to unlock so all three have to show their worth.
I mentioned this a couple of weeks ago, but I’ve been (hopefully) reliably informed that club expect that 6,000 points will be enough.
If we have to use our Darren England quota, it’s better tonight than other games. We should be West Ham, and if we don’t we only bring Forest back into the mix and really shit up Spurs and De Zebri.
I know it means we lose, but there’s every chance Forest & West Ham win in the next 2 days. That’d mean even a win against Wolves next week (and at Molenuex I’m not even sure that’s a given!) keeps them in the relegation zone.
In a normal season I’d like any of the 4 going down, but West Ham will go down eventually and I’ve no beef with Leeds. Forest going down would be the ideal relegation, but Spurs would be very funny. I’m sure we all know more Spurs fans than any of the others!
What the hell was the Brighton defender playing at?
It’s the one good think about being where it is. Only an 8-9hr drive once you’re in France, when Chelsea/West Ham made their finals you’d have to add another 4 hours to it… and plenty still did!
Tell her all the costs are half, and stick the eldest into clubs for the week. Lots of overtime needed…
It’s a half term week, isn’t it? That’s part of my issue… it’s when she’ll need a break and I’m fucking off on the booze.
Fortunate thing is you’ll get there, and it doesn’t have to cost a fortune. You’ll just have to trade money and convenience for time and hassle. And Tbh, I think we’re already at that point! Flights I was looking at last night are £55 more this morning. Hire a mini bus, load it up.
Over the last couple of games he’s filled in really well in that attacking role too. The one we thought he was bought in to play!
Tbf, at this point I’m on the verge of spending £500+ on fully* refundable tickets just to put my mind to rest. Then if things change (either we don’t make it, or find alternative routes) it’ll cost pennies to cancel. Stick it on the card…
We’re thinking to spend the Tues travelling, then head home Thursday afternoon with a stop halfway, to get home midday Fri. But that’s a compromise. I’d like to keep it Tues-Thurs, and my dad would prefer Mon-Fri. We’re also considering stopping somewhere like Cologne and getting a train from there.
Eek. I’m really stressing about all this, but deep down I know I’ll manage to get myself there.
I’ve done the same with hotels. As I imagine a lot of other fans supporting 4 different teams will have done. I bet there’s a bargain to be had somewhere down the line.
Wharton and Lacroix walking around as normal, neither changed from their shorts. Both players were a yellow away from suspension. I wonder if that was a bit of a plan…
Can pretty safely say Mainz are out, so no team has a ‘home’ advantage in the final.
Lacroix? Hopefully just a knock. Wharton’s dodgy groins might just keep him with us next season…
