Local organisations like our partners at aneraorg.bsky.social continue to provide lifesaving aid, from food and clothes to medical care, to people in Lebanon and across the Levant region.
In addition to civilian casualties, the WHO has recorded over 100 attacks on healthcare facilities, limiting access to medical care when people need it most. 6 hospitals and over 50 primary healthcare centres have been forced to close due to the damage inflicted.

Over 1.2 million people in Lebanon have been displaced by Israel’s attacks since 2nd March. That’s 1 in 5 people, or 20% of the population. Many have already been displaced by previous waves of violence, or arrived in Lebanon as refugees from Syria or Palestine.
@distributeaid.org is organizing an emergency airfreight shipment at the end of the month.
We'll post a needs list later this week. In the meantime please connect us to any potential donors of medical supplies / equipment.

You can also donate to cover shipping costs.
I can't emphasize enough how urgent this is. Every day that *hospitals* our out of basic medical items is a day that Lebanese civilians *will* die in the streets.
It's not like the bombing has stopped.
just got off my weekly call with @aneraorg.bsky.social's team in Lebanon. the first one we've had since April 8th
oh my god. it's so much worse then you can tell from the news.
I'm currently staring at a list of 500+ critical items that hospitals are out of or critically low on.

“The UNHCR spokesperson stressed that some 150,000 people are estimated to still be in the South and that humanitarian access to them is essential.”
Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported that at least 2,020 people have been killed and 6,436 others wounded since Lebanon was drawn into the US-Israel war on Iran on March 2.

This is why we continue our Levant response, in spite of all the challenges. And it’s why strengthening the local civil response is so vital.

On the left, a white box reads "Aid donations are the reason Maysa can still listen to hassoun birds singing in the morning, and cook mujadara hamra to feed her grandchildren" The Distribute Aid logo sits above this box On the right, a photo shows a group of 2 men and 2 women around a table of first aid supplies, taken by Anera in Lebanon.
This month’s newsletter is dedicated to all the grandmothers of Lebanon and the grandchildren who care for them.
It tells the story of Yasmine*, who works for our partner @aneraorg.bsky.social, and her grandmother Maysa*, who recently received lifesaving aid while fleeing her home in South Lebanon.
Last month, researcher Dan Schoolar presented findings from his research into border technologies in Serbia as part of the "Invisible Borders" project, funded by the Svenska Postkodlotteriets Stiftelse (Swedish postcode lottery foundation).

If you're looking for reputable organisations working in Gaza, this thread has plenty of great options
I'll vouch for Anera! You can also donate to @distributeaid.org. In the past 2 years we've shipped over $1,000,000 worth of aid to Anera in Lebanon, Jordan, and Gaza.

Since Nuremberg in 1945, international law has established that the "wanton destruction of cities, towns or villages, or devastation not justified by military necessity" is a punishable war crime.
No serious international lawyer would deny that this is what Israel is doing in South Lebanon.
Yall won't want to miss this!
I'm not in the States for this tour, but I had the pleasure of meeting @thrasherxy.bsky.social at one of @distributeaid.org's events in Chicago last summer.
He's a very kind, insightful person and we had some incredibly inspiring discussions about the current moment.
Whilst Trans Day of Visibility was last week, trans people are part of our communities every day. This means showing up every day for our neighbours, amplifying their voices, and providing practical support wherever we can 💛
A picture showing a hallway and reception space. There are several boxes and brown bag packages (HRT kits) placed on the floor and on a black mail cart. The reception window is closed with the blinds drawn. Sun is streaming in from the glass door and windows behind the packages.
We recently dropped off 100 completed HRT harm reduction kits to @flux_ahf in LA, ready to be distributed to trans folk in the area 🏳️⚧️

There is no ceasefire in Lebanon. Israel has been bombing Lebanon non-stop since last night. If anything Israel is expanding its war on Lebanon.

Firestorm was the epicenter of locally-led mutual aid after Helene. @distributeaid.org wouldn't have had such a successful response if @firestorm.coop didn't bring the community together first.
Please support them. They are far more to the Ashville community than just another radical bookstore.
The regulation will impact a huge number of people, including people seeking safety in the EU, and those whose asylum claims are rejected- even if unjustly.
This will only push people into even more precarious situations, and raises concerns of systemic violations of human dignity and rights.
• ‘Return’ irregular migrants to third countries they have no ties to
• Detain migrants for up to 2 years
• Send migrants awaiting deportation to ‘return hubs’ in non-EU countries
• Impose entry bans on people who are deported to prevent future entry into the EU

On the left is a quote from Eve Geddie, Director of Amnesty International's European Institutions Office, on the EU's new Return Regulation: "This marks a growing trend towards increasingly harmful, exclusionary, and draconian policies on migration, with worrying repercussions for due process and evidence-based policymaking. Far from reducing irregularity, these proposals risk trapping more people in precarious situations."
The EU Parliament recently approved a new Return Regulation, aiming to increase deportations of ‘irregular’ migrants from EU countries. Among the changes, it enables EU states to ⬇️
It's Trans Day of Visibility today. If you're trans and are raising money for something (I don't care what it is), reply to this thread and I will boost you.
If you are a cis person, take a look and find someone to support if you can.
Everyone give this a share after.
if you support humans who have questioned their gender, and who try to live their most exuberant lives: thank you
everyone else: fix your hearts or die
p.s. these mushy feelings are very nice, but also send a trans person who needs money some money if you can, it's fucking ridiculous out here
