I like about 90% of what you write (and I'm a liberal Democrat), but I have a question. You wrote, "Those diversity, equity, and inclusion policies will not be missed by many of us... " What about DEI do you dislike? Jim Crow laws were the antithesis of DEI.

This is Donald Trump. It's who he is as a person, and once again as our president. It's the Republican Party as he remade it, the people who elected him (twice), and the dominant political culture of our nation. It's ugly, shameful, and embarrassing.

The only reason to oppose DEI is to protect white, male, straight privilege and discrimination against people of color, women, and LGBTQ people in employment and education.

I've studied and taught history since the 1970s. Donald Trump is more ignorant, corrupt, unhinged, and dangerous than Hitler, Stalin, Mao, or any other leader ever. I'm doing my best to ignore him. I'm tempted to withdraw from social media entirely and focus on my personal wellness and family.

Hope in December 2021. While she and Faith were born and lived together, Hope developed a very different personality: shy, polite, and never aggressive. She's always a good girl.
