Another one of those cars, in South Africa at least, that were ubiqitous and then suddenly became rare. Their usefullness in the local Toyota range was completely obliterated by the arrival of the Fortuner, and the current equivalent is just a rebadged Suzuki Ertiga.

I'd rather have that cockpit than the very practical plastic dark greyness of my Suzuki 😌

Not particularly practical with the high tailgate. I have experienced trying to load very heavy machinery into the back of a MK1 Golf, and it wasn't fun at all.

This was the pinnacle of M-B design, I've loved these for as long as I can remember them being around. I look at their cars now and wish they still looked this good.
