Sincerely,
An old and tired Manitoba educator

I would encourage the Free Press to consider profiling these everyday acts of dedication—the quiet, consistent work that rarely makes headlines but makes an enormous difference in the lives of students and families. Those stories matter too, and they reflect who educators truly are.
While a small number of individuals have rightly been called out, they do not represent the profession. The overwhelming majority of educators are deeply committed, ethical, and compassionate people who choose this work because they care about children and communities.
They arrive early, stay late, spend their own money on supplies, and give countless unpaid hours to support students and families. Many do this while juggling their own family responsibilities, often with little recognition and limited resources.
Every day in Manitoba, thousands of staff that include lunch and bus supervisors, secretaries, custodians, educational assistants, guest teachers, clinicians, teachers, retired educations, administrators, and senior administrators go far beyond what is required of them.
That said, I hope this coverage can be balanced with stories that reflect the reality of education for the vast majority of those working in our schools.
To the Editor,
I want to commend the @winnipegfreepress.com for its recent reporting on misconduct in the teaching profession and for drawing attention to the new teacher registry. Transparency and accountability matter, and the public deserves confidence that concerns are taken seriously.
Schools have no right to dictate how families spend their time together in the evening.
Can we watch it somehow?
This is a pretty good spot.
A week in the life. #principallife
Good effort. #principallife
What does a ticket cost in the upper bowl for a Leafs playoff game? Other than maybe your soul.
I just hope that ref doesn’t lose his eye.
‘Shouldn’t sound like nobody’s home’ is just a bad sentence. #gojetsgo
Gotta be worried if you are a Dallas Stars fan if no one can score other than Mikko Rantanen. #gojetsgo

The NHL continues to have a serious reffing issue. It’s hard to watch at times. It must be harder to play when things seem to be random.
I’ll never understand both penalties for a diving call. If it’s a dive the other skater did not take a penalty. #gojetsgo
And oldie but a goodie. #canada

That’s a goal. #gojetsgo
Can we rename it to the Prime Minister’s Trophy?
Well, this is new. I’ve covered classes for teachers. I’ve covered kids for EAs. Today, a grade 4 student asked me to cover her lunch duty so she could find her friend. #principallife
Nice! Stay here!
Congrats St. Boniface Quebec on winning Craft Hockeyville. Maybe use some of that money to upgrade that mascot.
That was unreal.
Just went to the new Snow White movie. Good metaphor for the world today. The US could use a Snow White right now.
I’d hate to see this happen but at what point do countries consider boycotting the 2028 Olympics in LA?
