Those stats kinda line up with how the Nux have performed as a whole, so maybe he is the face of the franchise🤷‍♂️

That’s a POHO call. The GM can only advocate for it.😉

Can the Nux seek permission to talk to Mark Cuban as a potential new owner? Maybe he can partner with Ryan Reynolds.

If only the organization had done something to groom an up & coming GM and coach in Abbotsford. Oh wait!😉

Kevyn Adams seems to have the same strengths and weaknesses as Allvin, so what would be the point?

He was dealt a mostly bad hand. That said, I think has biggest failure was that his D was a mess given the talent, albeit young, that he had to work with.

Good article. You pretty much addressed every, “yeah but…” as they occurred to me, though you don’t seem to acknowledge that Caleb is now ranked third by some. That said, if picking third, maybe it’s better to pick one of the D this year and pick a centre next year.

Does Klimo have a future with the Nux? He is still young(ish) at 23 and he does have the proverbial tools if not the proverbial toolbox.

More and more it seems like maybe Allvin could’ve stayed and Rutherford and Foote should’ve been shown the door.

Exactly. The Nux waited to let newly hired GM Gillis make the call. Instead he and V met and discussed the style of play. Vigneault stayed. Later, folx were again calling for Vigneault’s head but Gillis was patient and it paid huge dividends for the Nux.

Vigneault. When Gillis was hired, many assumed he would replace Vigneault but he didn’t, and that worked out well.

I wish the Nux still had Allvin as the chief scout. I guess he wasn’t a good communicator (e.g. he looked bad trying to say that he didn’t trade Boes because they valued him higher than the offers they were getting).
Apparently Johnson is a very good communicator and GM in general.

I further wonder, if Johnson is the next GM, is Manny his coach of choice?

The new North Stars whooped the old North Stars

Gotta love the wolf pack (or orca pod) mentality: all for one and one for all!

Nice! Giving the folx what they want.

Is Allvin the scape goat for some questionable decisions made by others, or is it more about his seemingly terse communication style, or is there more to this? Does Johnson seem like the best fit amongst the GM options especially considering some might want to avoid Vancouver?

Based on my limited draft research, Caleb has risen and is no longer considered a reach at third by some (also 😂 & 👍with denying this if Caleb turns into a star): www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/...

If the Nux pick third and really like Caleb and also like Manny as the next coach - do they chance having father coach son, or if they can only go with one, do you go with Manny and one of the top D, or…

The unanimous alternative to McKenna is Stenberg who might have slightly lower ceiling but seems to have a higher, more complete level of compete. I keep comparing them to Jagr and Forsberg in terms of one being pure offense the other being pure compete.

Yes👍 and yes😕

I’m sure many don’t want to hear this, and I’m also pretty sure he wouldn’t want to come back anyway, but I think Mike Gillis would do a good job as President of Hockey Ops.

I think Rutherford might have been behind some of the bad decisions that cost Allvin his job. I also think Allvin drafted rather well.

Beyond Johnson which candidates are a possibility? Who would want the job?
Hopefully some good candidates with some good ideas to share interview and share their ideas even if just to practice to interview for a gig they would rather take.

The more I think about what others have said, I wouldn’t be surprised if Boes is the next captain.
I think the next GM’s first task is decide on the coach then, with the coach, decide on the new captain—and fairly early so that the Captain can rally the troops over the summer.

Luo would probably do a good job, but he’s a Florida man, and why would he put himself through what Linden went through.

Maybe things were just gloomy under gloomy Hughes followed by trade deadline angst over who will stay and who will go.
The Wild players that came in went from a Stanley Cup contender to last place, but they are in elevated roles with a higher level expectation and appreciation.

Allvin being the scapegoat seems likely. How many good vs bad decisions were Allvin’s; how many were actually Rutherford’s; and how many were actually ownerships?
