I love Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, and look forward to it each year. I was only able to attend on Sunday, and felt (even more so) that I just did not have enough time to see everything I wanted. Perfect weather out, and huge attendance. Already looking forward to 2027!

It was a full house in a very big hall. Great turnout and great panel!
Great panel going on right now at L.A. Times Festival of Books: "Earth Versus the Universe: Epic Battles and World-Building in SciFi" with John Scalzi and @danielkraus.com , and moderated by @Leslie S. Klinger!!!

Including the line of novels, the comics, the short stories, and other tie-in media, this is—in order—about the 2,000th volume in the series!

Can’t wait to start reading this biography of Jim Butcher by Joyce Carol Oates! Who knew she was such a fan?
My good friend and long-ago roommate Robbie Allison has had sudden, traumatic medical issues and "life" gave him emergency triple bypass surgery for his 49th birthday. ("Happy Birthday to the Ground!" IYKYK!)
Please help support him!

Always great to meet up for the monthly HWA Los Angeles chapter of Horror Writers Association with friends and peers at The Mayflower Club in North Hollywood. Even better to go for dinner afterward at this very cool venue, Broken Compass Tiki Bar!
Date night with my favorite girl!
Thank you so much, I appreciate that!
😆
thank you!
Absolutely stunned, honored, and thrilled to learn that I have just been recognized by the @horrorwritersassoc.bsky.social as this year’s Mentor of the Year!!!
What are you reading? I’ve started Wretch: or, The Unbecoming of Porcelain Khaw by @ericlarocca.com. I’m still making my way through Horror Library, Vol 9, edited by Eric J. Guignard & lastly, I’m re-listening to Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, narrated by the phenomenal Ray Porter. #booksky
I thought I saw you there!
Got a sneak preview of THE HAUL by Gary Phillips, and it’s a banger!! Cannot wait for the full novel’s release, July 7 from @sohopress.bsky.social Crime!

Another great year at the L.A. Vintage Paperback Collectors Show in Glendale! It was my first time having a vendor table there, as I’ve normally gone just for fandom and to see/support friends. Another first: My daughter came along and sold resin creations alongside me! A win-win.
cheers!
938.
The number of submissions I received for HORROR LIBRARY, VOLUME 10. Slightly less than in years past (a good thing!).
I just finished logging them in a trackable spreadsheet. All subs have received a receipt notification; I’ve decisioned about half of them and ETA the rest in 3 weeks.
Paperback of +HORROR LIBRARY+ VOL 9. A monster is on the cover.
💙📚🩸 +HORROR LIBRARY+ Vol 9 is an absolutely stellar anthology that will enthrall, terrify, & haunt you. @ericjguignard.bsky.social has assembled an astonishing array of truly superior, stunning Horror that exemplifies the best the genre offers. Not one bad story; my highest recommendation! #MSReview
Oh wow, thank you so much! And I LOVE that bride/skull bust!! Very cool! :)
My 17-year-old-son has a habit of each morning writing a message on his arm. Here is today’s.
(and this done AFTER he completes his morning round of 100 push-ups, and BEFORE he goes on his 8+ mile run, and then off to high school AP Honors-Science / pre-med courses.)
Proud? Yes.
It’s a new week, what are you reading? I'm reading The Boatman, a novella by @alexgrecian.bsky.social from @badhandbooks.bsky.social . I'm continuing Horror Library, Vol 9, edited by @ericjguignard.bsky.social and I’m listening to #DCC #5 by @mattdinniman.bsky.social for the second time.
Went on our annual camping trip over the weekend in beautiful Joshua Tree National Park with my daughter's Boy Scouts of America Girl's Troop! I led a field ecology course, kids rock climbed, bouldered, had fun. Go Scouts!
