I cannot be party to silencing writers, which is why I am resigning as director of Adelaide Writers’ Week | Louise Adler Cancelling the Australian Palestinian author Randa Abdel-Fattah weakens freedom of speech and is the harbinger of a less free nation

I’m confused: did a memo go out this week saying it’s finally okay for politicians and the press to be outraged that Israel is starving Palestinians?

If so, I didn’t see the memo. But I did see the evidence of this war crime back in late 2023.

Where are we at? Starving is bad, bombing is ok?

In relation to the Gaza atrocities, the ALP has taken real action - sanctions - against only two people: Fatima Payman and Mehreen Faruqi.
Speaks volumes.

Rinehart has been openly cultivating her relationship with the opposition leader, Peter Dutton, since the 2022 election, & has also hosted multiple fundraisers for his campaign.

Her company, Hancock Prospecting, is now the Coalition’s second-largest donor.

Get it, … it’s all about Gina.

@australianlabor.bsky.social on facebook and Insta. Are they trying to appeal to the Proud Boys of Australia? Have the Australian Patriots Party hijacked their account? Does the work experience kid subscribe to Andrew Tate podcasts?

I will also say that it must be disheartening for ATSI parliamentarians who are advocating for this change.

We need a govt, any govt, to authentically listen to ACO's & care beyond a funding announcement. Those that do not live remote think substancial work is being done when it is not. Something is better than nothing, but it is so exhausting, & disrespectful to those advocating for community.

1 year ago 1 0 2 0

Great initiative. Do you know if this govt is committed to long term funding rather that the historical model of short term where ATSICO have to spend countless $$ & hours advocating for these projects to continue. This was a big frustration of the ACO I worked for remotely.

The bottom 90% have got just 7% of economic growth from 2009 to 2019. The top 10% got 93%.

Our research shows inequality has been supercharged in the last 20 years, and it will only get worse unless we fix it.

A super profits tax is a good start, and cracking down on tax rorts. #auspol

"Former home affairs boss says Australia should take leaf out of Trump administration's book"

Bizarre that ABC news is taking a leaf out of the #MurdochGutterMedia playbook, and assisting the 'rehabilitation' of a disgraced and dangerous former bureaucrat. #auspol

The company’s internal database also includes photos taken by photographer Rohan Kelly, including one of Cairo Takeaway owner and restauranteur Hesham El Masry. The file also has instructions describing the assignment brief:

Meet Gussy at Holt Street call on arrival at 9am and head to Newtown for 930am. Undercover Jewish man Ofir Birenbaum sees what it’s like being Jewish in Sydney. Will secretly film with his video glasses. The aim is to walk down main streets in Newtown, Blacktown, Bankstown, Arncliffe (might not do arncliffe it the worst perhaps) and film peopls reactions to this jewish man in their neighbourhood. Needs discreet photos of the guy walking down these streets to accompany the yarn. Speak to pic desk for a brief.

A News Corp source told Crikey that by the morning of February 13, the story had no further progress in News Corp’s backend beyond having had photographs uploaded to it under embargo.

News Corp in Australia are running campaigns to try and incite violence towards Jewish people, and film / report on the incidents - this attempt was botched and now the internal documents planning the provocation in News Corp's system are leaked

So It's okay for you to make assumptions about other people when you don't know what happened, relegating them to arsehole status. Yet I extrapolate a conclusion about you based on your prior judgemental comments about women and you don't like it. Got it.

Women who are drunk & fear for their safety or have their safety compromised, who are in fight instead of flight mode, can come across as abnoxious. Most of us make stupid regretable mistakes when we are young - getting drunk to the point of vomiting, with the exception for you it seems.

"or if it can be used by any women when they get drunk and obnoxious?" Not about other women and their experience? okay.

You seem to imply that you have never been in a position where you have been fearful for your safety. If that's the case you have been extremely fortunate to have had a very sheltered life. However, I'm perplexed why you would demean other women's lived experiences of being unsafe or threatened?

those achievements are great & appease the middleclass . Addressing 1in6 kids living in poverty wondering where their next meal is coming from is a easy fix yet ALP prioritise 40million$ a day over the next 25 yrs on a dud LNP deal & tax breaks to those who have significant means. Noone left behind?

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

Disenchanted Labor voters are not voting Dutton. Their criticisms are that the ALP are part of a duopoly. The people you should be concerned about are those that traditionally vote LNP, were disillusioned with Morrison so voted ALP & realised there is not much difference so go back to LNP
