We asked some of the young people who use our Here4YOUth and ROUTES services to answer this question for Youth Mental Health Day.

We've put together some videos to explain how to turn the alerts off if required for safety purposes - you can view these on our website here βοΈβπ₯ π

It is recommended that emergency alerts remain switched on, unless it may cause a risk to your personal safety.
As a provider of Domestic Abuse services, Cranstoun is providing guidance to support people who may have hidden second phones for safety purposes, eg victims/survivors of domestic abuse.
Over the weekend there is going to be a test of the UK Government's Emergency Alerts system on mobile phones. If you have a second phone for safety reasons, this could leave you at risk.
All compatible mobile devices will vibrate and make a loud, siren-like sound on Sunday, 7 September 2025 at 3pm.
There's still time to donate! The money will help to fund leisure centre memberships for people who use our service - and the kind team at Wokingham Leisure Centre have offered to provide double the amount of memberships ππ

Weβve met with a number of MPs to discuss a range of issues including rising ketamine use, prevalence of synthetic drugs and how we can support more young people.
At a time where potent synthetic opioids are contaminating the drug supply, officers in all forces should be equipped with the tools needed to protect people and preserve life.

We must build genuinely affordable homes to address significant issues related to the supply of housing as a key immediate priority.
No child should grow up in an unsuitable, precarious, and unsafe home.

The shocking number of children growing up in temporary accommodation is already shameful and we urge the government to use the upcoming spending review to commit finance and action to address this crisis.
The investigation also highlights how children will be living in unhealthy, unsuitable housing for long periods of time, whilst the cost to the taxpayer is set to soar by 71% to Β£3.9bn per year.
Projections published in @theguardian.com, from analysis by @sheltercharity.bsky.social, has revealed that 206,000 children will be living in temporary accommodation by 2029 β a 26% increase in just five years.
