Thin but effective

I post my body on here because it somewhat helps me remedy my deep insecurities from growing up queer in Sydney. A toxic body culture. I thought I had escaped that shaming but last night it reared its ugly head. Surely we are better than this? Surely we can all go to a bar without hearing that bile?

Because “I appreciate people who take care of themselves. Like there’s a reason you’re all furry here. Like what’s wrong with liking people’s bodies who go to the gym”. The inadvertent fat shaming this kid was doing had us all absolutely gobsmacked. He was promptly asked to fuck off elsewhere.

Last night this dumb young thing bounds up to our table at Mollie’s (Melbourne gay bar) and starts by saying how cute we all are. Then asks “who’s from Sydney” and I raise my hand and play along. He then proceeds to say that he is a “Sydney gay” 1/3
