After breakfast and networking, we held a panel on civic engagement, democracy, and climate, in a packed room.
That resource is offshore wind on Long Island.
When prices moved, it didn’t — which is really the point here.
Regions without it were more exposed to the spike.
Not all New Yorkers paid the same for electricity this winter.
During peak demand, prices across NYISO regions pushed into the $250–$500+ range.
At the same time, one resource was coming in closer to ~$150 and didn’t spike with the rest of the grid.
Thats the gap.

Good news: @nysdps.bsky.social announced approval of 2 renewable energy projects: Agricola Wind in #Cayuga & Flat Creek Solar in #Montgomery County.
That means: 399MW of clean energy, powering the equivalent of 55,000 homes, 210 jobs and offsetting 350,000 tons of CO2 per year.
Rising oil and gas prices are driving our energy bills up. Now is not the time to backtrack on clean energy that will make our communities healthier and lower our bills.

Last week, NYLCV’s Alia Soomro testified before NY City Council, urging rejection of the FY27 water rental payment and greater investment in water infrastructure. The policy drives up costs and diverts funds from critical DEP projects needed for a climate resilient NYC.
