"I think it's when we're not being aggressive." - Barnes on the turnovers
Barrett thinks Raps are confident, have heads held high and feel good heading back to Toronto.
Barrett expresses no concern with Ingram. Thought they did a better job getting him his looks.
On Harden and Mitchell: "To be honest, they're a problem. They're a problem. We gotta look at the film and figure out how to fix that."
"It's very interesting that he had zero free throws in this game." - Darko on Ingram
Darko felt CMB helped the Raptors defend how they wanted to, and they felt more like themselves.
"Brandon's an important player for us. ... He's gonna make his shots." - Darko
"I thought the fight was there. ... I really think it came down to turnovers." - Darko
It was one post, not an overall encapsulation of the game, y'all.
'Topes lose. 116-105. Cavs lead 2-0.
26/5/4 for Barnes. 22 for RJ. 83 for Mitchell, Harden + Mobley.
Far better effort, a recognizable Raptors performance, but there is no overcoming that Ingram shooting night (3 for 15) or 22 turnovers.
Game 3 on Thursday.
It hasn't been crisp, but RJ is playing super hard tonight, asked to do some difficult things. Really commendable effort.
Jamal Shead has made some bone-headed passes in this series.
Raps have gone small daring Allen and Mobley to beat them. Give them credit: They absolutely are.
Change does nothing, another awful start to the second half, complete with avoidable turnovers and Mitchell brilliance.
Collin Murray-Boyles starts in Poeltl's place to start the half.
Poeltl has been fine. RJ driving into traffic with no escape plan too much for my taste, but doing enough stuff to be valuable.
It doesn't have to be much more complicated than BI needing to provide more.
Raps trail 54-48 at the half. Despite 31 from Harden and Mitchell, they're doing enough defensively. Ingram scoreless and non-shooters not hitting 3s.
Raps going Shead/Ingram/Barnes/CMB/Poeltl.
Barnes on to Mitchell with RJ on Mobley to start 2nd quarter
Cavs up 26-19 after a quarter. Some genuinely good stuff defensively, some disruption, but Raps bringing nothing to the table offensively.
Including these, five turnover in five minutes for the Raps. Not tough enough to start.
Barnes on to Harden with Mobley on bench
Jakob Poeltl has lost control of two rebounds, one on both ends, leading to Cavs buckets both ways.
Me: "What song is that lyric from? I feel like it could be relevant tonight."
*Does Google search, finds out it's Kanye.*
Me: "Well, :|"
I'll be posting here as well as @theathletic.com game page using the discuss feature. Let's hope for a more interesting game than Saturday.
Scottie Barnes finished fifth in DPOY voting. Three second-place votes, 12 third-place votes.
1. Wembanyama; 2. Holmgren; 3. Ausar Thompson; 4. Gobert.
Same starters for both teams: Shead in for Quickley, Dean Wade is Cleveland's fifth starter.
Immanuel Quickley is out for Game 2.
"We don't want to 'dare shot' guys." - Kenny Atkinson on some of the 3s Barnes, Shead and Barrett hit in Game 1.
