It was a true pleasure to support this student-led exhibit on aging simulation. If you're in the Ithaca area, make sure to check it out. events.cornell.edu/event/feel-t...

The proposed borrowing limits would discourage students to enter these critical professions at a time when we need them most.
The best geriatric advice by a physician is pointless if there are no physician assistants and nurses to care for the patient, no social workers to help them re-integrate in the community, and no public health professionals to ensure that the community as a whole is supportive of older adults.
I am leading a program to strengthen the pipeline into the geriatric workforce, not just for physicians but for public health workers, nurses, social workers, and physician assistants. These professions are critical in allowing older adults to remain productive members of their community.
Here's the public comment I submitted: "Demographic shifts are leading to an unprecedented aging trend in the U.S. population. This is already leading to a shortage of qualified professionals to care for our older citizens. Such shortages are especially felt in rural and under-resourced areas."
Proposed restrictions on what counts as a professional degree are threatening the geriatric workforce (along with the broader medical field as well as engineering). Weigh in through public comments by March 2. I posted my own response in the comments below. www.regulations.gov/document/ED-...
In his confirmation hearings, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told U.S. senators that he would not cut funding for vaccine research or change the nation's official vaccine recommendations. He did both. n.pr/46QDn9p
"Relational skills are built through practice. When you talk through a fight with your partner or listen to a friend complain, you strengthen the muscles that form the foundation of human intimacy. But large language models can act as an emotional crutch."

Hey folks! Katelyn and our colleague Ed are following the ACIP meeting live today. Ed’s narrating the whole thing on BlueSky (send him good vibes!), and we’ll be back Friday with a full debrief. We wanted to open up a space for this community to talk amongst yourselves, drop any questions, etc.

Limiting access to student loans for nurses by claiming their degree is not "professional" is going to make existing healthcare shortages worse. What a short-sighted move. www.newsweek.com/nursing-not-...

1/ It’s Monday, which means a brand-new edition of The Dose. This week we're looking at the messy #vaccine headlines after last week's ACIP meeting, falls among older adults, loneliness among young people, and a top question on Covid shots at pharmacies. Here’s what you need to know 👇
