it’s only safe to teach literature where characters sit perfectly still in separate rooms and don’t speak or think or do anything

Note : Please don't email us except with cover art because otherwise we are closed to submissions at the moment. (We will reopen!) 🙂
Not that we don't appreciate your appreciation and submissions.
Two final considerations for GL 65 chosen for GL 66, we're happy as hopping parrots to accept them.
Hah, sorry, cross-platform convention confusion.
Ben Shahon: Unpopular opinions are often good ones and sometimes the best. Historical definition is essential to artistic styles and movements.
Happy invisible Moon, everyone! But it won't stay that way, and in two weeks will come the flower moon and so Gone Lawn 65, so dear it doesn't need to smile to make you smile, even in these times.
The handful of submissions we've held on to are being considered for #66.
Gone Lawn 65, the flower moon issue, is filled, and we are now closing for submissions for a few weeks, because we need a breather. The new issue is scheduled for May 1, and it will make you happy, we promise.
Thanks to all who submitted!
The term "magical realism" has been thrown about so willy-nilly, lately, that nobody knows what it means, any longer. Much of what is termed "magical realism" is in fact fantastic literature or fanciful literature, or, very often, surrealism.
Remember surrealism? Not magical realism. Surrealism.
Repost of worm moon issue (March 3) index since the changed image . . . this makes us ill, pulling a cover work, we've never done it before (willfully). But these are great writers with great works and check it out check it out, please!

Email us and we'll email you back.
Still, we feel we don't count, as editors or as writers with opinions . . . an audience doesn't count. What counts is the artist who created the work. BUT . . . if you like we'll send you our analysis. :)
But we're just one reader, therefore how can we justify ourselves counting? All that counts is you, not us.
When we say, floccinaucinihilipilification, you know what we mean, and if you don't, we mean that, too . . . wait . . . we didn't say floccinaucinihilipilification? Well, we meant to.
This bears repeating . . . we do not do theme issues.
That said, this doesn't prevent you from submitting a story thematic with the moon of said period. We've published such pieces, before, and will again.
Proud to have two dreamy micros in this edition!
Conjure your inner Jack Horkheimer, people, and check out those planet-guests in our empyrean! They're all there, a vertiable pantheon of them: dot, dot, dot, dot, dot, dot...
SNOW: Where are you going?
GALAHAD: I seek the spring! I have seen it, here in this castle!
SNOW: No! Oh, no! Bad, bad Rain!
GALAHAD: What is it?
SNOW: Oh, wicked, bad, naughty Rain! She has been setting alight to our beacon, which, I just remembered, is spring-shaped.
EDIT: We're still on Submittable for submissions. (Check us out!) Just not the other stuff.
We regret at the moment being unable to go through Submittable, due to lack of money, but hopefully we can set that up in the future.
Thank you,
Gone Lawn.
We might, rabbit, we might . . . but send it to us before we decide.
Terrible story: snow and sleet all week this week for the northeast. Fun story the following Tuesday for everyone on Earth: The worm Moon rises!
Just two more weeks before the worm moon hits us, and then something will come down! You know it will! #64 in fact! Just you wait, it will blow your mind.
Still time to submit. But you'll have to find the way to do so. A little game.

Happy snow moon, everyone! Boy, is that snow bright . . . and deep . . . and cold. In one more moon will be #64, the worm moon issue, and we're still accepting work for #65 under the blue moon.

7° here and did a bit more shoveling and I wish I had a strawberry pineapple mango banana smoothie, I should set a plan to make a bunch of that.
It must be Dinosaur Week at Gone Lawn, so many dinosaur pieces! We like dinosaurs.

Apologies for the handful declined before remembering it's an effective holiday, today.
Hope everyone's doing okay in the storm. :(
We're reopening submissions at Gone Lawn. Same old thing, you know what we like & you've got it.
& as always (not to be judged!), please consider a donation to keep a struggling mag afloat, if you can. Bad times, bad times.
And come the next full moon, dance under it!

Fuzzy snowy wood in evening.
Here it's snowing, tonight it will be dark for all. But guess what will be bright? Gone Lawn 63 will be! This is the micro-excerpt issue, featuring thirteen brilliant authors. Enjoy!
