Where is concrete production in this chart? Industrial? That’s about 7-8% of emissions I think.

Per the War Powers Act he has to go to Congress for authorization after 60 day, which takes us to the end of April. He has no plan and is running out of time.

I could make an argument that US leadership in science and innovation has been due not to culture, but to (1) the decades long research partnership between government, academia, and business that the Trump Administration is seeking to dismantle, (2) coupled with a large market based economy.

Iran War Live Updates: Iran’s Military Says It Has Reimposed ‘Strict Control’ of Strait of Hormuz

Tick tok, tick tok…….Worth noting that under the War Powers Act, Trump only has until April 29th before he must seek Congressional approval for his “little excursion”, and without approval troops must be withdrawn 30 days after that. www.nytimes.com/live/2026/04...

Well, so much for that.

Seattle pedestrian deaths doubled last year. The city program to end them is getting a hard look Despite millions spent trying to make Seattle's roads less dangerous, deaths and serious injuries continue to trend upward.

As someone who was hit by a car and seriously injured while on a crosswalk, I wish the powers that be in Seattle would consider pedestrian bridges and/or tunnels to cross busy roads. This is common in parts of Europe, but rare here.

Just for the record, Ireland also had a female president between 1990 and 1997, Mary Robinson.

Orban’s defeat despite gerrymandering the heck out of Hungry’s first past the post parliamentary districts should be a warning to the GOP, particularly in Texas. If the swing is big enough gerrymandering can backfire and turn once safe seats into contestable ones.

This streams on a TV screen at my local coffee shop. It’s become the main topic of conversation between baristas and customers, “So how are the little buggers doing today?” Meanwhile, there’s a pair of eagles nesting in the local park that fly over my Seattle house daily. #naturerocks

Let’s hope that Orban’s stunning defeat in Hungry is a sign that the high tide mark of authoritarianism has passed.

Dumb and dummer talking to each other about something they don’t understand; how markets for a globally traded commodity work.

‘Get them all’: Why are WA farmers blindsided by an ICE crackdown? Farmers are speaking out about immigration raids on farmworkers, saying they're startled by it and disappointed. Are we living in different information bubbles?

Republican voting WA farmers are having buyers remorse as their long term and undocumented “squeaky clean” farm workers are getting arrested by ICE. “We thought he was going to deport the “worst of the worse”.

Blocking international shipping in international waters is a violation of international maritime law. Trump is turning the United States into a rogue nation.

….Yemen for exciting the Red Sea, Denmark for the Danish Straits, UK and France for the English Channel, South Africa for rounding the Cape, and so on? Clearly, Trump did not think this through when he launched his Iranian venture. He was warned. In his hubris, he ignored those warnings. 2/2

Freedom of shipping international waters is a corner stone of the rules based order that has allowed international trade to flourish. If Iran is allowed to charge a toll for ships transiting Hormuz, then what next? Malaysia charging a toll for the Straits of Malacca, Morocco for Gibraltar..1/2

What triumph is Trump planning to celebrate? The collapse of American democracy? The illegal war in Iran? The extra judicial killings of alleged drug smugglers? The billions his family have made of the Presidency?

And a reminder, the social security trust fund runs out in 2032/33, so the boomer generation better prepare for a SS income cut of 20-25% when that happens…..because soon there will be no more road left down which politicians can kick the can. 3/3
