There is no such thing as a ruthless Dem.

Democrats fell over themselves to try to appeal to people who like Cheney, and made absolutely zero effort to appeal to their own base.

“Vote for us, immigrants/minorities/gays/women/Black people, because the GOP will be worse to you than us” was hardly a message guaranteed to turn out the base.

And yet the number of Dems who vote to confirm him is more than zero.

Maybe Dems should work a lot fucking harder to earn votes rather than just campaigning on “we aren’t as bad as the GOP.”

Imagine if Dems said "When we take power, we will undo everything Trump has done. It will be like he never assumed office."

When Obama came out and said “I am against gay marriage,” he was fully expecting that gay people would still dutifully line up and vote for him because “the GOP are worse.”

That’s still the Dems’ main message to non-straight-white-rich-businessMAN voters: “we suck for you the other guy is worse.”

And what, the same message from an American socialist would be wrong?

It’s a true statement, or at least it’s a statement that may AMERICANS also believe.

Imagine if, every time a Republican said something like this, every last Dem had a press conference to condemn it and stood up in Congress to demand an apology.

Instead, the let it become normalized by not making it into the scandal that it rightly is.

You. Have. To. Give. Voters. Something. To. Vote. For.

Yelling. At. Them. That. This. Is. All. Their. Fault. And. That. They. Owe. You. Their. Vote. Will. Not. Motivate. People. Who. Sat. Out.

You. Need. To. Incentivize. Them.

Because in order to win, you probably have to find a way to get some of the people who sat out the 2024 election to participate (and vote for your candidates) moving forward. And that might mean that you need to eat a bit of shit in order to get them to do that.

So maybe Canadians are allowed to criticize Harris and Biden. Just like Democratic voters, upset by the exact same things, are allowed to.

Harris and Biden’s incompetence in (1) fascist-proofing America an (2) running a campaign that was just “we’re just like the GOP, just 10% less racist and genocidal,” directly led to Canada being threatened with annexation and the free trade agreements being torn up.

And why not? Biden didn’t do shit to keep Trump from returning to power (“welcome home,”) and Dems’ entire strategy for “keeping the world safe from rogue America” was “Dems win elections forever” and not “fix the system.”
