Absolutely progressives for glasses, and then I have separate prescription reading glasses as well. I treat reading glasses like chapstick: 4-5 pairs scattered around my life at all times (they're not too spendy).

Form that reads 'What do you consider strenuous activity? (Answer should not exceed 250 words * required question). The answer box reads simply, in the baddest toughest late 40s woman matter of fact voice, 'I have completed 8 marathons.' The sound of a microphone dropping to the floor, rolling off the edge of the stage, and clattering to concrete echoes in the background.

I am filling out an application for a research trip.

We had 30cm of snow over Weds and Thurs and today it was bare and dry for a bike ride. Springtime in Alberta...🎢🎡

This reminds me of @watershedlab.bsky.social's special mountain sensor being eaten by a grizzly bear.

Omeisaurus, an especially long-necked member of the long-necked dinosaur group, displays his dark skin to an unseen audience. We often show dinosaurs displaying with bright colours, but melanin - which turns skin browns, blacks, greys and earthy-hues, is also widely used as a display colour among living animals. Pigments of any kind are expensive to create or source, so their presence is an honest signal of health and vitality, even if they aren't bright.

It's that time of the week again, folks: TGIO: Thank God it's Omeisaurus.

I didn't even get blood on me!

My lil first aid kit is pretty simple: gloves, one of those flat CPR masks (the one with the one-way valve so you hopefully don't get somebody's throw-up in your mouth), a roll of gauze, and some individually packaged bandaids and wet wipes, all in a small ziploc baggie in a small pouch. Easy peasy.

But everybody was watching from the train. Bystander effect is absolutely wild when you're watching it happen in real time. I get that not everybody has first aid stuff with them or feels icky about blood, but I would have thought at least one other grown-up would say hmm, this looks like a problem.

Today a teenager fainted on the train and was bleeding from a cut on her head, and not one adult got off the train with her - just her young friends. I was waiting for my train on the platform and helped - I carry a small first aid kit in my bag and kept pressure on the wound while waiting for EMS.
