But like Crowchild Trail, you just keep on going.
We had 30cm of snow over Weds and Thurs and today it was bare and dry for a bike ride. Springtime in Alberta...πΆπ΅
This reminds me of @watershedlab.bsky.social's special mountain sensor being eaten by a grizzly bear.
Omeisaurus, an especially long-necked member of the long-necked dinosaur group, displays his dark skin to an unseen audience. We often show dinosaurs displaying with bright colours, but melanin - which turns skin browns, blacks, greys and earthy-hues, is also widely used as a display colour among living animals. Pigments of any kind are expensive to create or source, so their presence is an honest signal of health and vitality, even if they aren't bright.
It's that time of the week again, folks: TGIO: Thank God it's Omeisaurus.

Snow. Uggggh.
Another snowy picture that is snowy ugggh
April snow. Why. Just why.
More snow today.
Except when it comes to heavy metal Jupiters. That is the BEST name.
And just like that, the coursework portion of my PhD is done!!
Now on to candidacy.
I didn't even get blood on me!
My lil first aid kit is pretty simple: gloves, one of those flat CPR masks (the one with the one-way valve so you hopefully don't get somebody's throw-up in your mouth), a roll of gauze, and some individually packaged bandaids and wet wipes, all in a small ziploc baggie in a small pouch. Easy peasy.
But everybody was watching from the train. Bystander effect is absolutely wild when you're watching it happen in real time. I get that not everybody has first aid stuff with them or feels icky about blood, but I would have thought at least one other grown-up would say hmm, this looks like a problem.
Today a teenager fainted on the train and was bleeding from a cut on her head, and not one adult got off the train with her - just her young friends. I was waiting for my train on the platform and helped - I carry a small first aid kit in my bag and kept pressure on the wound while waiting for EMS.
Ooooo
Image: A small, angry boy stands in front of his parents. They are in modern clothes, but he is dressed as a regency gentleman with top hat, breeches, cane etc. He says "No title, no estates, and less than a thousand a year! How am I ever to find a wife!" Caption: Noah's parents realise that he has been drawn into the manorsphere.

Two cats watching the Artemis mission landing.
You are amazing!
Just as gassy, too.
Dawn is such a fabulous book.
Watching the Artemis 2 live stream, and briefly you could see the stars in a reflection. So, so cool.

We also had acid rain.
Emails on the way!!
So far the research we're doing is showing that SF speculation in STEM classrooms through stories is allowing them to project an image of what they can see themselves doing and participating in through the eyes of their 'characters.'
If either of you are interested, would you consider recording a short clip about science communication or storytelling in science? The course is built around a SF narrative, and we have the students writing short 'transmissions' as scientists on the mission, reflecting. ucalgary.ca/news/ucalgar...
Would you be interested in some science outreach? I'm a PhD student working on how science fiction can help to inform public science literacy/fluency, and working on a project where we have a class of undergrad geoscience students doing critical self reflection in form of planetary sci-fi stories...

Nutella coms team on point.
Update: the kids wrote some amazing Artemis-themed stuff tonight. Along with, well, aliens. A lot of aliens.
