Nothing says ‘new school year prep’ like battling the sticky Velcro graveyard left on the whiteboard 😂✨. From grimy disaster ➡️ spotless shine… armed with a sponge, half the cleaning aisle and enough patience to rival a saint. 🧽🫧💪

The Writing Framework refers to ‘Revising’ & ‘Editing’ but I’ve found these confuse children in reality. I use ‘Editing’ & ‘Proofreading’ instead with mnemonics (inc. a hwg check). It’s worked well and I even wrote a blog on it if you want more info 🔗 teachersparkly.wordpress.com/2025/07/18/e...

Love that the Writing Framework values the writing process but I’ve adapted it to also include purpose, audience & text type. It’s made a big difference for the children I work with! Sharing my version here 👇📝 #PrimaryEd

This year I’ve tried creating a visual timetable in the style of apps on an iPad. Just sharing in case anyone else would like a different way to present the essential visual timetable which helps so many children with their routines.

TOP TIP! Want children to look at the board whilst you’re modelling something? Use fairy lights (in a gentle mode not too flashy) and turn them on at times where you want them to focus on what you’re doing on the board. #EduSky

Thank you to social media for making me discover the ✏️ 2 pencil ✏️ tubs idea 💡 ⭐️ in class! No more children gathered around the bin sharpening their pencils 🙌🏻 ! They just swap a blunt pencil for a sharp one and get straight on with their work! #PrimarySky #TinyVoicesTalk

Giving classroom helpers a lanyard to show their responsibilities for the week has really helped me so far this year as they take it very seriously and feel the importance much more when wearing these! Only places the lanyards don’t go to are breaks, lunches and the toilet! #PrimarySky

Building on my reel showing the different parts to learning to read, l've tried to create a reel to show what parents/carers can do to support their children in the skill of reading & developing enjoyment. Would you add anything else to this? Ideas always welcome! #PrimaryEduSky #PrimaryEnglish

That’s a really interesting Q & any ideas for why children are not choosing to read in their own time intrigues me esp. as they can be so keen in school.
NLT research was insightful in showing latest opinions about reading and now we can hopefully explore poss solutions.

With rfp being on the decline, creating a whole school core book list has been a great way to ensure that both staff and children are enthused about daily story times, as well as providing a ‘feast’ of different books. #PrimaryEnglish #EduSky #PrimaryEduSky

I’ve found since doing this when introducing a text as part of a reading lesson that children have familiarised themselves with the text much quicker. Some children do it freely now when they get a new text which is great! #PrimaryEnglish #Edusky #PrimaryEduSky
