You’d think it’s the Unraid NAS on the bottom, but it’s actually the HPE DL380 gen 8 full of drives above it. It’s part of my Proxmox Ceph pool, and the rest of it runs a virtualized TrueNAS that gives more performance than my deep capacity Unraid when needed.

Anyway, I’m off work today to take care of the boys so my wife can get some things done, so I have lots of time to think on this.

Current situation:

My other topics dilute my content. Mental health is still relevant to me and part of my life, but I think I’m not going to focus there except when relevant.

Same with politics/social matters. VERY important, but I tend to elevate/engage others better than speak my own. You know where I stand.

Anyway, I’m thinking of becoming more a TechDad, or Dad in Tech. I still love tech, from personal to enterprise level, and that’s never going away.

Plus, anyone can do game streams as a side hobby. It’s tech adjacent, and it’s been a wish to do that for a long time.

I’ll still show what I can, but I’m also wanting to get out of this space since it is shrinking in demand.

Parenting has kind of taken over my life again, so my content swings that way. Yes, I show my kids (I ask the 12 year old first), yes I know the concerns. I may even use their names.

Debating kind of a re-branding thing for myself.

I still do tech, but given social media policies for my company, I can’t show much on some platforms. Also, infrastructure and storage is hard to show on my own, because that gear is expensive for homelabbing.

Plus, sensitive company info.

Budget planning meetings in IT when you don’t have solid requirement numbers are basically like asking “please sir, may I have some more?”
