Mahmoud Khalil’s Son Arrives After ICE Refuses to Let Him Attend Birth (Gift Article) Mr. Khalil, a permanent resident detained in Louisiana, had requested a monitored furlough for the birth. His request was denied in less than an hour.

NEW: Mahmoud Khalil's wife gave birth to their child without him after ICE denied their request to let him be present.

“This was a purposeful decision by ICE to make me, Mahmoud, and our son suffer,” Dr. Abdalla said. “My son and I should not be navigating his first days on earth without Mahmoud."

Not to state the obvious, but none of them were sent to a terrorist prison in El Salvador. They all had lawyers, indictment by grand jury, a trial or a guilty plea where a judge ensured it was knowing & voluntary & access to an appeals process. In other words, all the hallmarks of due process.

New images could change cancer diagnostics, but ICE detained the Harvard scientist who analyzes them Without scientist Kseniia Petrova’s expertise, no one can fully unlock the data’s potential, putting crucial advancements in early cancer detection at risk.

Almost every line of this story would have been simply unbelievable a few months ago:

—Pioneering cancer researcher;
—*Arrested* at airport in Boston;
—Now indefinite ICE detention in Louisiana;
—"Crime": not declaring some frog-embryo samples for research.

It will definitely mean that many of the mentally ill people, whom I treated over my career, will no longer have access to their medications. As a result, they'll be flooding psychiatric hospitals and jails. Good job, Republicans.

I always loved Topo Gigio! I’m an elder so I remember him from the Ed Sullivan show. He featured him regularly! I think the Beatles met the mouse that night 😂

Sorry you deal with this horse shit everyday; from a frustrated Canadian to his equally frustrated neighbor south of the border, know we stand with your sentiment (even in the face of being meaninglessly pitted against one another in some sort of tariff escalation that helps no one). Here's a cat yw

This is why you fight these cowards.

The moment you stand up to them, they crumble.

Homan has nothing. The Fourth Amendment is clear and I am well within my duties to educate people of their rights.

He can threaten me with jail and call names all he wants. He’s got nothing else.

Someone should remind the billionaires that before workers had the right to organize and join a union, disgruntled employees occasionally resorted to using bombs and bullets to make themselves heard.

Freddy Mercury died of AIDS 33 years ago today. With modern medical technology, he likely would have lived. Never forget how much progress against major infectious disease has been made in a short time. We are at risk now of rolling back much of that progress.

I’m blown away by how fucking supportive & awesome everyone is over here.
I have heard from a lot of people that it feels as though our side has given up.
That no one is standing up and saying FIGHT.
I hear you.
But I’m also HERE.
Saying FIGHT.
We. Must. Keep. Moving. Forward.
So, let’s fucking go.

I really feel like the Trump administration will be historically unpopular in a way that becomes untenable, the real question is what groups are hurt in the interim and how much courage the Dems show in both stopping and rolling back all the damage done
