I know the feeling! Glad to even have the excuse to exchange a quick message. I'll bring up data sovereignty and governance and try to channel you a bit. Lol. Safe travels!

No, turning over activities designed for your learning to a bot does not free you.
Undermining online learning hurts access to learning, especially for the not-wealthy.
Had a great discussion with @mjgault.bsky.social of @404media.co about Einstein and other online course autocomplete systems.
By the way, STEM education is literally being slashed and REDIRECTED to AI.

Y'know, people keep making lists of people seen in the #EpsteinFiles, so I wanna be positive and list people NOT in the #EpsteinFiles.

Collins said ice would go away, but I'm still hearing it is around. I'm just so done with it.
And just for good measure, it'll be -7 tonight.

Maine. Snow a lot, but cool. But the ice... not cool.
Star Tribune showing how its done. And guess what? Turns out it’s just a matter of accurately reporting facts.
Listening to @benblumsmith.bsky.social - Math and Democracy is a big tent & there are many ways to get involved. Was just talking to @victorpiercey.bsky.social about wanting to expand math and democracy convos beyond voting apportionment (though that is also important!) #jmm2026
god fucking dammit
They had cake. #USAIDsaveslives
I am planning on using this paper in my Capstone class!!
Intro to qualitative #MetaMath work with @rachel-roca.bsky.social includes our #DisruptJMM analysis with @drew-lewis.com @nativemath.bsky.social and Stefanie Marshall.
What do influencers do? Turns out there are different types - Shapers, Thought leaders, and Netweavers.
Here for it! #disruptJMM
Awaiting their Feast looks at Latinx food activism and the desire for latino labor alongside the animosity towards latino immigration. It focuses on the Northeast with a considerable amount of time on Maine. It is a fascinating read. 4/4
To the MedellÃn conference, which sparked a recommitment to the poor (Pope Francis was informed by this) and to influence on Latinx civil rights and farm worker movement. It also nods to our current times and ICE, though was written to nod to the last Trump administration. 3/4
Brown Church suggests that the Latine Church, while seeming at first like a choque in Nepantla to some atheist liberals, instead has defined its own theology that takes a buen vivir like stance. It chronicles a broader history from Freire to De la Vega and the Virgen Guadalupe... 2/4
On my transcontinental flight, I read two books about Latinx Activism recommended by a colleague for my upcoming VECINA class: Brown Church and Awaiting their Feast.
My brain is now done for work so you get the benefit of the quick synopsis and my whole hearted recommendation! 1/4
Also done with last day of class. So feels especially happy to see friends and bask in their awesomeness. Just have a virtual pile of grading.
Super excited!
Me too! Good guy!

New from me for @science.org: A major planetary science conference will require submitted abstracts to comply with Trump's anti-DEI executive orders.
This conference, LPSC, is a big deal. It's been running since 1970 and is one of the biggest planetary science conferences out there. 🧪ðŸ”
Our book was highlighted today!! Crowdsourced advice from lots of people. It's like having several mentors. Great for high school students thinking about majoring as well as all levels of Undergraduate.
...is harder than it looks & doing it effectively is a talent that has to be practiced and honed. The future of #democracy and civil discourse demand it.
The thing that keeps me teaching still is knowing how important this work is and being part of it.

I like to send them into break with something fun - just in case someone tries to pull any Bad Bunny bullshit at the Thanksgiving table. 🤣
But it is serious too. Whether they are refuting with numbers and figures or with words, jumping in to defend the truth (e.g. PR is American)...
