re: what Ds with power should do for immigration *immediately*- not discounting other things, just do this first: turn the entire ICE OBBBA slush fund into funding for judges and other process support staff. move as many people waiting on hearings out of limbo as u can while working on other things

pocketbook.ch is pretty nice tbh. Then again I was pretty happy with a kindle from like 2010. A bunch of decent competitors sprung up when the patent expired a while back

Ed's right: most developers don't often demand it. They look around at "comps" and see everything with (mandated) parking. They'll thus say, "I can [lease/sell/finance] anything without 1:1 parking!" They can't imagine a new market. And they definitely can't imagine sites unlocked by a reform.

"They were so lucky I was looking"

Ummm no. Stopping in time for a child running onto the street is not heroic/lucky, it is your goddamn obligation as a driver. Cost of entry. Kids are allowed to be unpredictable, you are not.

Community Eviction Response

Minneapolis Community Leaders Training

Tues. Apr 21 6PM - 8PM

Minneapolis’ March 2026 eviction filing rates are up 60.3% compared to March 2025.

This event is for mutual aid organizers, rapid response networks, impacted community leaders, educators, social workers, advocates, and tenant leaders to:

Bring more clarity to understanding the eviction process and timelines
Raise awareness of the agency tenants have to interrupt the process
Give emergent organizing networks and community leaders the legal information to create strategies for eviction response and broad information sharing

Our aim is to give a legal overview of the eviction process, share resources for eviction defense, and arm advocates with the knowledge needed to keep neighbors housed and combat mass displacement.

This event will be hybrid and hosted in the Harrison Neighborhood, address will be given to registrants.

The weather underground murdered the first black school superintendent in the usa because he worked at a high school that was going to require ID. And they believed ID cards were fascist

Nothing says the lightning fast decisions can't be made by a congressionally approved presidential appointment though. Vesting power in the presidency specifically instead of "guy in charge of dropping/launching nukes" was a contingent choice.

A flatscreen display on a "smart" water fountain, demanding to be reconnected to the internet.

A flatscreen display on a "smart" water fountain, demanding to be reconnected to the internet.

In 1999, I was playing a decker in Shadowrun, and tried to distract a guard by hacking a water fountain to overflow, and my GM said "why would a water fountain be on the network? That's fucking stupid. No you can't try."

Well it's 2026 and I just want you to know, Phil, that I FUCKING CALLED IT!

The invisible systems that enable the world's current abundance and that will one day banish famine and disease to the past depends upon the efforts of the faceless millions who fill the spreadsheets and send the emails.

It should be brought up as a design consideration! MNDoT is actively ignoring it in their "redesign" of 94 here in the twin cities, and a lot of that comes down to it not actively being integrated into their models streets.mn/2026/03/20/i...

Pole on sidewalk before an intersection. Green rectangular sign on pole had a circular blue light that goes on when a bicycle rolls up.

It is so thrilling to pull up and watch the bike detected blue light go on.
No pushing a beg button far away on the sidewalk.
No waiting for a car to trigger a green light for me.

max slinger reply

How is the “Max Slinger” account still not banned? This is an AI agent account that isn’t properly labeled as a bot AND it’s replying to people unsolicited constantly as well as follow farming. It’s breaking so many community guidelines and needs to be taken down.

Exactly this problem is fucking over the twin cities right now during an attempt to redesign remove the freeway wasting a ton of space between the two big cities.

A related problem: We've reduced transpo planning to making lists of things that transpo engineers will be doing.

Induced demand is a PLANNING issue. We need real transportation plans, that seek to accomplish multiple societal goals, relate to land use, and aren't necessarily crafted by engineers.
