@governor.ny.gov climate realism is knowing that adding fossil fuel infrastructure instead of renewables is causing unnecessary death and breaking NYS law

reminds me of the new piece by Desai et al @ how carbon majors promote renewables bc they're trying to prevent climate action

I enjoyed talking about the unsurprising hypocrisy of this admin saying the US needs to harm whales to be energy independent while cutting investments in renewable energy that don't harm whales with @mariagallucci.bsky.social

The President is openly threatening genocide. A crime against humanity. He must be removed from office.

The 25th Amendment must be invoked. If not, Congress has to do our damn job. Speaker Johnson, call us into session. War powers & impeachment. Remove this man from office.

"Even if you produce more oil than you consume, you still pay the same global price for oil everyone else pays & thus still suffer from supply constrictions & high prices."

This basic, elementary fact -- global energy markets 101 -- refutes basically the entire GOP energy policy & worldview.

Here's a headline that seems to describe this activity more appropriately:

Dept. of Interior bribes oil company $1B from taxpayer coffers to stop wind power

Devastating reporting. Like RFK Jr., Kristi Noem, and Marco Rubio, Pete Hegseth is reshaping his department to indiscriminately kill tons and tons of children.

A major throughline of the Trump administration.

Would it have been so much worse if it had been a nuke? Consider the fact that birth deficiencies and rates of leukemia and cancer in Iraq, post 2003- invasion, are worse than what was observed in Hiroshima. In Japan, rates of leukemia rose by 660% in the years following the bomb. In Falluja, it increased by 2,200%. The toxicity of war has never been greater, and we are in no way reckoning with

The real damage comes years later, with elevated cancer rates, leukemia clusters, respiratory disease, cardiovascular failure, neurological damage, reproductive issues.

This is chemical warfare, with delayed carnage. Worse than radiation sickness.

I am ashamed to be American today.

A++ greenwashing for fossil fuels by @nytimes.com. WTAF. Especially infuriating to give American Petroleum Institute the last word after an interview with brilliant writer and climate activist @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social — whom I highly recommend you read and listen too!

NYT, get it together.

Seeing this shared on the same day that @chanda.blacksky.app shared an article about a drop in non-fiction readership makes me wonder whether there's some push to convince researchers/journalists not to do deep dives

good thing we've stopped federally subsidizing residential renewables & started a third gulf war while approving loads of new data centers, what could go wrong

AI: Does not compute Building fossil-fuel infrastructure to power data centers is a poor bet. Renewables are by far the cheaper, faster choice.

Amory Lovins has entered the chat:
"Today’s AI mania rhymes: Gas and nuclear vendors that can’t beat energy efficiency and renewables in competitive markets are leveraging hype into mandates and subsidies to rescue their losers."

After my ICE arrest, I learned one crucial way to respond to trauma. We can all take part | Rümeysa Öztürk I was detained for co-writing a op-ed about Gaza as a student at Tufts. My experience has only made me feel more connected to others facing oppression

Dr. Rümeysa Öztürk is using her experience of being unlawfully arrested and detained by ICE to advocate for children facing human-made trauma, including children in ICE detention and living under conflict.

We are explicitly mentioning ICE’s murder in cold blood of a man on the streets of Minneapolis this morning

I don’t want to hear anything from an elected official unless it’s a plan to defund the DHS and impeach Noem, Bovino, etc. No texts. No emails. No talk about the economy. Step up or step off.

Alex Pretti was a colleague at the VA. We hired him to recruit for our trial. He became an ICU nurse- I lover working with him. He was a good kind person who lived to help and these fuckers executed him.
