It's been a while since I updated about my ongoing injuries. But I'm still standing (more or less) www.therunningastronomer.com/2026/04/im-s...
When Angela Rayner underpaid £40,000 in stamp duty, Richard Tice said it was "morally completely indefensible” and she should resign if she had “any moral decency”.
Now we learn he set up four shell companies that let him avoid paying £100,000 he owed in tax and to then transfer the cash to Reform
Boooo.
Is this good news? It sounds like good news... Postdoc cuts on hold as under-fire STFC announces extra funding share.google/z724fV1RDXjn... 🔭🧪
So, when @ukri.org claimed that STFC’s financial issues were due to it being overly ambitious… that wasn’t even slightly true, was it? 🧪🔭

Astronomers find a new method to keep you looking young! You just need to eat a planet 😉🧪☄️🔭
😮🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 beautiful
The European Astronomical Society has awarded its Tycho Brahe Medal for 2026 to Prof. Gillian Wright of the @ukatc.bsky.social in Edinburgh, for her leadership in the development of the MIRI instrument on #JWST. So well deserved 👏 cc @science.esa.int eas.unige.ch/documents/ea...
Their paper puts it at +1.5,-1.3 Gyr
😂 the drama, the peril, and a galactic romance for the ages
Will they or won't they? I discussed a recent paper on the most anticipated Galactic merger of all time. Tune in to hear about the future of the Milky Way! 🧪☄️🔭
It's past bed time here, but who goes to bed when there's people on their way to the moon?!! So
, we just stay awake for days, yes? 🤩🔭🥰
Ahhhhhhhhhh! They launched and they're off into space and omg we're off to the moon and ahhhhhhhhhh! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🔭🧪
4 minutes and counting until the Artemis moon launch (hopefully)! So exciting! Humanity heading out for a big adventure around the moon once more 🔭🧪
I’m feeling so very weird about the launch tonight. It’s a bit like the day that JWST went up, I’d been talking about it as a future thing for so very long it felt unreal when it actually happened. I’m so excited but also kind of in disbelief that it’s happening. Wishing #ArtemisII a safe flight! 🚀
Today is my first official day as a full professor, and it looks like NASA has really organised a great present for me. Let's go to the MOON! 🎉🔭🧪
Need to get up to speed on the Artemis mission fast? Here's a handy guide to NASA's moon mission launching tonight! 🧪 🔭
If all goes according to plan, in a few hours, a crew of astronauts will begin a journey that will take them on a loop around the moon. Here's a video that NASA put together to help people visualize the journey through space, first orbiting the earth before looping around the moon and flying home 🔭
I only just caught up with the arxiv today and WOW. It feels like there are way more April fools paper than usual. Are LLMs revolutionising the way astronomers handle April the first? 🔭
I also discussed the latest information on pulsar searches in the intriguing star cluster Omega Centauri. One new pulsar detected and new timing solutions derived. But what does it all mean? Tune in to find out 🔭🧪☄️
This paper was cool. It talks about strong nebula continuum emission boosting the UV luminosities of high redshift galaxies, and focuses on this cool banana shaped source. With a candidate pop III blueberry galaxy right by it 🤩☄️🧪🔭
Our latest episode is out! Me and @payeldas.bsky.social got together and discussed 5 cool papers from astro-ph. Join us to learn about fruity galaxies, black holes, planet eating stars and the fate of the Milky Way ☄️🧪🔭
Bananas, blueberries, planet eating stars and the fate of the Milky Way
In this podcast episode, Michelle and Payel explore fascinating astronomical topics, including high redshift UV bright galaxies, Population III stars, black hole binaries, pulsars in Omega Centauri, and the potential merger of…
Here is my reprocessed version of the Juice NavCam images of comet 3I/Atlas taken last November shortly after it's closest approach to the sun. 🧪🔭
For this animation I removed the static noise and aligned the images to the nucleus.

Are the nitrogen rich stars in the milky way halo deposited there by globular clusters? It's a long standing debate and Nicole discussed this new paper in our latest episode which brought binaries into the chat 🔭🧪☄️
Ah thanks! And thanks for the heads up on pronunciation and what it actually is! I probably should have looked it up but I was quite last minute with my papers this episode. We would love to do more of the arxiv! We just need more time in the day and then we will be unstoppable 😉
How do massive black hole seeds grow in dwarf galaxies? This paper discussed a novel method to track this, and the wider importance for supermassive black holes. Tune in to our latest episode to hear more 🔭🧪
Our latest podcast episode is out! Tune in to hear me and @nbuckley0810.bsky.social discuss globular clusters and growing black holes 🔭🧪⚫
