Almost everything we argue about is a substitute for the thing we should be arguing about: the immense wealth & power of an oligarchic class, which captures governments, ruins lives and wrecks the living planet.
This class redirects our rage at scapegoats. To resist its lies is to resist its power.

It is preposterous and honestly rather shameful for Starmer to act so upset over the Mandelson affair. He is basically attacking Robbins for doing precisely what he wanted him to do inews.co.uk/opinion/unbe...
Labour's Steve Reed – who himself has been accused of antisemitism – is re-running the antisemitism smear against the Green Party and the Jewish Zack Polanski

🌍 Earth Day 22 April
We’ll be Wimborne tomorrow sharing a simple message, a fairer, safer future is still within reach.
Renewables are the cheapest power and cut pollution. New North Sea drilling won’t lower bills.
Choose hope & action. Come and say hello.

Screenshot of BBC live 21st April headline 'Sacked Foreign Office chief describes 'pressure' from No 10 and 'dismissive' attitude to Mandelson vetting '.
National security put at risk because the PM became so intent on having #Mandelson as US Ambassador.
Starmer knew what #Mandelson was like, we all did. He knew his history & that appointing him entailed risks. He showed poor judgement in giving him a high profile job. #Starmer did not check the facts before the appointment or before making statements after the sacking.

Steve Clarke, from #BristolAirport Action Network, said: "It's going to completely wreck the common. They're basically doing a land-grab. This is common land. We don't think it's right to be taken for a commercial enterprise,"
When is airport developed enough?

' Japan has unveiled a new name for days that reach 40C (104F) or above, after the country experienced its hottest summer on record last year. The term - #kokushobi - has been translated as "cruelly hot", "brutally hot" or "severely hot" ' #ClimateCrisis

Always good to ask who wants you to consider what inevitable.
AI, robots, endless war, patriarchy with the mask off?
Always good also to ask who wants you to believe what impossible?
Caring about the other? Making choices for the long term common good? Living together simply and at peace?
A photo taken by Apollo 15 in 1971 showing a crescent Earth from the Moon. Accompanied by a quote from Astronaut Dave Scott, 7th person on the Moon: 'It truly is an oasis and we don't take very good care of it. And I think the elevation of that awareness is a real contribution to, you know, saving the Earth if you will.'
We have done a very poor job of protecting our only home (Earth) since this was said in 1971. We are saying the same things now about our planet, photos this time from Artemis 2.

Something to celebrate on Easter Sun. OTOH the POTUS is a deranged monster…. Have signals about the state of things ever been more mixed?
Lord Ashcroft poll (26th to 30th March) putting the Greens in first place on 21 4%. A first. Reform 20.9, Conservatives 20.5, Labour 17.0, Lib Dems 9.2.
Labour have attacked environmentalism & leftism. They've moved a long way to the right of politics. There's been latent agreement with the basic case the #Greens make for decades. Now much of the context favour their progress. Interest in the Greens is no longer latent.
'1970s #oilcrisis was "fundamentally different" from today's...first oil shock back then was "the result of a deliberate policy decision" '
It wasn't a deliberate US/Israel policy decision to attack Iran - or Iranian decision to restrict Strait of Hormuz use?

There is a real contradiction in supporting greener steel production if it is to go into the third runway at Heathrow, which will significantly increase emissions.
We cannot tackle the climate crisis while locking in higher carbon outputs.

This is an unbelievably weak response from the chancellor to the enormous bill hikes facing households in the UK. Monitoring the situation?
These lukewarm words show the government simply do not understand the scale of the cost of living crisis.

Screenshot of a Peterborough Green Party Facebook post which says you don't have to change your life to be Green. The post uses an image which lists the many things you can do while being Green, such as: driving a petrol or diesel car; eating whatever you want; struggling at gardening; taking a plane on holiday, and more.
Yes, because being #Green is about fair changes to systems. Being Green is not about individualism - that distortion originates from capitalism which blames you and I while over-exploiting us.
Ellie Chowns MP for North Herefordshire "Following the strikes on Iran, Israel has expanded their ground campaign in Lebanon, displacing a million people throughout the country and seemingly preparing for prolonged occupation of southern Lebanon. Trump has intensified his threats against Cuba following the collapse of the island nation's energy grid under a US-imposed oil blockade, declaring just yesterday that he believes he will ‘take’ the country and ‘could do anything [he] want[s] with it. This cannot continue." Green Party Promoted by Chris Williams on behalf of The Green Party, both at PO Box 78066, London SE16 9GQ
"The Green Party calls on the UK Government to make clear to Trump and Netanyahu the UK will not accept breaches of international law, to withdraw permission for the US to use UK military bases, and to refuse any further complicity in this illegal war." @elliechowns.bsky.social
