That’s an elevator pitch I can get behind.

A great piece by @lukeplunkett.com on @aftermath.site on this incredible sense of place that the Yakuza series provides.
The first game I worked on was an MMO called Flyff or Fly For Fun, which gathered a great active community and still runs to this day. Farever reminds me a lot of that game that has a special place in my heart. Very much looking forward to its EA launch on May 6th !
The premise is flawed — streaming isn’t convenient anymore. When it came out, it was. But the act of putting a DVD or CD in a player is way more convenient than wading through multiple services to find what you’re looking for, finding out it’s not included in your tier, and dealing with commercials.
A flatscreen display on a "smart" water fountain, demanding to be reconnected to the internet.
In 1999, I was playing a decker in Shadowrun, and tried to distract a guard by hacking a water fountain to overflow, and my GM said "why would a water fountain be on the network? That's fucking stupid. No you can't try."
Well it's 2026 and I just want you to know, Phil, that I FUCKING CALLED IT!
Plenty of news shared today at the #GalaxiesShow !
Playtest, Release date and game reveal were shared. Let's unroll that 🧵
I lived in Dublin's "Digital Docks" some 20 years ago, and saw the arrival of Facebook and LinkedIn in the building next to where my apartment was. What Big Tech did to Ireland, in good and bad, is worth knowing. Here's a great writeup from @thedialmag.bsky.social
Project Hail Mary was good and quite respectful of original book material which I had really liked as well. Go see it ! (And read the book as well, of course)
Finished Yakuza 3 Kiwami/Dark Ties. The Yakuza franchise is my gaming comfort food. There was nothing groundbreaking in this new remake, but it made me happy to play through Kiryu's adventures once more with modernised gameplay, and the Dark Ties story was a nice addition.
I liked it. Play it !
Frostrail, the ruthless FPS survival game where you operate and upgrade your steam-powered train through an unforgiving wasteland, reveals new gameplay and a playtest beginning 16th April!

Join us in space on May 20th !
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie was less impactful than the previous movie, but it was a lot of fun. Go watch it, ideally with your kids so you can then spend time explaining to them about all of these Nintendo characters they've never heard about (unless they play Smash Bros of course).
And here's the Spotify link for those who have no interest in seeing terrible closups of my face for an hour open.spotify.com/show/6rN7TEd...
Back in November when Moon Rover was still up and running, I was invited on a podcast to talk about my early experiences, DICE, Paradox, Creavity vs. Risk, and much more. A lot has happened since then, but it's still a decent listen if you're interested: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZNN...
Adding @icotom.icopartners.com to this thread as he’ll have a lot today on the topic !
A lot happening right now at Shiro, and much of it will be revealed at the Galaxy Showcase in a couple of weeks !

One of my favourite Dragon magazine covers - March 1989's. Always makes me think of Shadowrun's Awakening and what it would have been like for the pilots encountering dragons in the sky for the first time.
Indeed, I enjoyed it very much.
Hunter: The Reckoning remains one of my favorite TTRPG and I’m really happy and hopeful for its video game adaptation, although the fact that its publisher is insolvant 6 months before the planned release isn’t a great sign to say the least…
Congratulations !
I remember the day I could afford to buy a Voodoo 2 card after saving for what seemed like forever. So much gaming could finally happen.
I hadn't realized 3dfx had gone bankrupt and then been bought by Nvidia 25 years ago. That was such a big brand for PC gaming back in the 90's.
I would very much for our industry to get off this hell train please.
If you know anyone affected, Shiro is hiring a bunch over here, with more roles to come as soon as I have the time to publish them. They’ll all end up over here: emploi.afjv.com/annonces-soc...
For lovers of chonky reports, here’s a ton of data on the state of the games industry by Sensor Tower
Spotted the @shirogames.com logo in there ? 👀
It's worth noting that this report was published before the start of the war in the Middle East. With price of fuel skyrocketing, surely there will be more of an impact on console gaming which remains the most expensive and a shift towards cheaper PC/Mobile/Free-to-play entertainment ?
Circana forcast for the US games industry is a small growth driven by the success of the Switch 2, GTA VI and subscription revenue. Most interesting amongst trends to follow is the abandon of console platforms by the younger generations towards PC & Mobile. www.circana.com/post/circana...
I did not know what a MacBook Neo was, and still don’t care much about it. And yet, this piece is very much worth reading, and sharing, just because… great writing can stand on its own.
