For the life of me, I cannot fathom what they were thinking. Even putting all the shit about celebs and ads to the side (and those were both unquestionably massive issues in and of themselves)…there was almost no theatricality. It felt like a slightly above average episode of SD, if that. Baffling.

Just finished night 2 literally seconds ago. Night 1 entirely skippable. Night 2 solid. I stand by almost all my notes. Seth/Gunter was a little better than expected, as was Punk/Roman. Everything else pretty much played out as expected.
I think the only two folks that follow me *and* are into wrestling are @pinkalpacas.bsky.social and @bwlkr.bsky.social …but for anyone that might care, here are my hype levels (and reasoning) for each match now that all the talking is done and we are hurtling toward #Wrestlemania #WWE #IWC
It comes around faster every year.
Happy #RexManningDay to all that celebrate.

I don’t know if anyone will be interested in this, but spinning off a conversation elsewhere…
There have been 2,257 days so far this decade.
In those days, I’ve watched 3,868 films.
Of those, 982 have been released this decade.
Of those, these 41 are the ones I’ve given full marks.

But for now, I’ll say, every single nominee in International is an absolute banger. Watch them all, if you can.

RIP Tom Noonan.
Obviously, I’m a massive fan of his work as Francis Dollarhyde/the Red Dragon in particular, but it was always a treat to see him appear in anything. Too many to list the best roles, but if you’ve never seen it, check out his superb X-Files episode, Season 4 Eps 10, “Paper Hearts”
RIGHT???!!!
Over 20 years that’s been on my shelf now and it *still* irks me every single time I look at it.
I keep meaning to look into getting a custom dust jacket, but it’s just below the threshold of that level of irritation.
So, 68, if I’m counting correctly.
The Gillen/McKelvie Young Avengers one at the very end is annoyingly labelled as an Omnibus, even though it contains less issues than several of the OHCs which are not labelled as Omnis.
Otherwise it would be 69….nice.
These two shelves hold all my OHCs. There are others that are the exact same format, but are called something else (the Powers ones that you can see the start of, on the right, for example), but these are all my Marvel OHCs.
The Cadillac of collected editions.
Accept no substitutes.

I love the Evil Dead franchise, but for me it’s A Simple Plan, Raimi channelling his early collaborators, The Coens, to superb effect.
And a shout out to The Gift too, an excellent ensemble cast ghost story with a genuinely terrifying turn from Mr Quantum Baby himself.
A top shelf double bill.
