Don’t settle for weak offers. Note that if settlement talks lag, co lawyers may send warm msgs like this: “If you reject the separation package, your employment will be deemed to have terminated on [x date] “for cause.” 6 mos later, package was amended, improved.

They’ll remember your performance now, not in 7 months. You never want anyone to hint or claim you were fired “for cause.”

To former @washpost @PostGuild employees: After Matt Murray axed me from the WSJ in 2010 I got good advice. Get and keep EVERYTHING in writing from the union + company: your severance agreement, performance reviews, plaudits, all emails esp from lawyers. **Get a signed recommendation from Murray.

Hi sir. Have these DHS “warrants “ been challenged in court anywhere or the subject of litigation? I love the authoritative citation of a WSJ opinion piece.

2. Did uni events wither naturally or are ppl really self-censoring? I’m sure soc scientists have studied that. Also: were the campus goals realistic? Few campus demands ever are.

With Cease-Fire, Some Pro-Palestinian Protesters Look Back, Ruefully

This @nytimes article irked me. It equates #Palestinian protest with campus protest, which always wither. Why not visit neighborhoods that rallied to the cause? www.nytimes.com/2025/10/21/u...

Astonishing that this #NYstate AG report on #Cuomo as governor is rarely discussed. As with all political scandals, the problem lies not just in allegations, but the willingness to investigate, address by staff. ag.ny.gov/sites/defaul...

Cuomo Super PAC Got $2.7 Million From Donors With Business Before the City The contributions, which are legal, effectively run around strict limits on what entities on the “doing business” list can give to his formal campaign.

When citizens accept the revoked rights of “others”—minorities, “radicals,” migrants, outcasts— know that citizens will eventually be targeted.

You’re a stupendous writer. Most people would’ve focused on the prior restraint doctrine, but you lifted this to a higher moral shame.

The terms used in these executive orders and directives are so loose as to mean almost anything. Culture generally doesn’t mean government policy. Where in the world is criticism of culture grounds for rejection or deportation? The US alone?

Rubio Orders U.S. Diplomats to Scour Student Visa Applicants’ Social Media The order comes as President Trump expands deportation efforts, including of students who have spoken out in support of Palestinians during Israel’s war in Gaza.

Please note that I have a negative attitude about denying US residents, visitors and visa holders their constitutionally protected legal rights to free speech. Not sure it’s hostile but check back.

What evidence did DOJ etc rely on to make this accusation? Was Khalil part of a group that engaged in speech/acts/support or did he act as an individual? If he supported, why was there no earlier allegation? Reporters, please clarify.

It seems #MahmoudKhalil has been arrested not on a public order warrant but for speech that somehow supports a terrorist organization. What is the case law that defines such support? Might his arrest encourage the DOJ to prosecute a new realm of odious or unpopular political views?

#Kennedy mentioned personal responsibility of someone who smokes for 20 years and questioned if that person should have a guarantee to health care, given the costs it imposes on others. He’s talking about denials to a lot of seniors.
