From a story in December 2021.
From the combine:
Just here to point out not having an Iyo match booked is like if the Seahawks went into the Super Bowl and decided they didn’t need to play Devon Witherspoon
Penta strutting to the ring going to take up the remainder of the ESPN air time
Dexter Lawrence for $70M over the next three years is surplus value
The push/pull about the Bengals missing on so many of their high defensive draft picks is they didn’t have many big contracts outside of Burrow/Chase/Higgins.
Had enough space to sign deals in offseason, take on the current Lawrence deal.
But they currently have 27 players under contract for 2027
Well, no follow up. Jordan Raanan reported it is Lawrence for 10 straight up.
The WHEW still stands.
Getting similar language from all the insiders that the deal “includes the 10th overall pick” and not Lawrence for 10, so I’m interested what the follow up is
WHEW
Weekend AM read: wrote about positional value and some of its flaws
A safety, a linebacker, and a running back are in the consensus top five of the 2026 draft. In this economy?
Wrote about if we're talking about positional value correctly, the current market, and why surplus value shouldn't be limited to second contracts.

Today might be a good time to remind people that C.J. Stroud was 11th in EPA per play and QBR during the 2025 regular season. Houston was 15th in passing DVOA as an offense while 29th rushing.

This is a really cool project Tyler put together. Honored to be one of the participants — picked fifth for the Giants.
Off-field analyses are part & parcel to NFL draft process. So how have teams investigated Rueben Bain Jr.'s 2024 crash? And will it impact the draft?
I spoke with evaluators from 5 teams and reviewed Florida public records to better understand 👇

TV just straight up died when watching it last night, so that's been a fun development to deal with today
Important PSA
Had fun here talking some possible receiver draft prospects for the Ravens.
No. you're right. I think if Harbaugh said get a deal done no matter what, it would. But believe even in recuced duties, Schoen is still Chief Contract Negotiator here.
I might be leaning stronger than "might"
There's also a separate bit here, where Schoen's refusal to use void years, for the fear of future big dead money hits, leaves the Giants in a worse cap situation because all the current cap hits are highger, leaving them with less wiggle room to negotiate bigger contracts under the cap. Great work.
Joe Schoen's insistence to take his hardest line stances against the Giants' best players would be admirable if it wasn't the worst way to build the roster
This, while parking at the stadium isn't an option
Reuben Bain was cited for careless driving after a March 2024 crash in Miami that left a passenger in a coma. That passenger, a 22-year-old student, died three months later. NFL teams are aware and investigating, per sources. www.readoptional.com/p/rueben-bai...
Have a fantasy baseball draft tomorrow, so playing around with Baseball Savant and it's so awesome how expansive and freely available baseball data is.
