I'm organising a technical art meetup at Develop: Brighton! ✨
I found it hard to find others last year so wanted to try running a little group this time. Even if you can't join, do share so others can see it.

And then as a volume. Also a bonus vellum sim at the end.
This was the beginning for me for using volumes.

I started learning houdini because of reaction diffusion, so… it was time
At first in COPs

Setup for the slugs moving on geometry
Also with this and the statues i tried out a scanning clean-up workflow in houdini (using my own scanned objects), which is :chefskiss:

Two statues covered in ivy
A sphere overgrown with ivy
Two boxes forming a sideways T overgrown with ivy
Vines growing on top of two statues
Also created my very first Digital Asset - an ivy tool!

Made a flow along a heightfield thingy (tutorial based))… in order to learn some VEX and an attempt to understand vectors.

I will probably go back to this at a later point. I have learned how to make them slower and they are already less… suggestive

Slugs leaving behind a rainbow slime trail
A pastel colored porcelain slug
Many slugs - all have metallic shells and leave a rainbow trail on the floor
Geometry of the snail model - clean and colorful
Week five of learning houdini:
Digital Assets and Volumes. Oh and slugs. And reaction diffusion!
Based on the cops work i made some slugs and had them crawl on a surface, but also i had to learn more about particles and orientation.

Also learned some particle basics because i had a fun (or so i thought) idea.

Also learned how to use geometry to add stuff into the cops network - here it is particles that drive the trails

I also started learning COPs in that week, it is very similar to substance designer but inside of houdini, which is nice

A waterslide, consisting of separate segments. I can draw any curve and the segments are automatically created :)

Here i learned to use VOPs instead of VEX and also i learned how to use a texture map to control attribute values on a surface
