JK THIS is my last post on this. The librarian just emailed me to tell me because of y’all’s generosity, EVERY. SINGLE. KID. Got a book from the book fair. EVERY KID at this Title 1 school received a precious treasure to KEEP.

Prob the last update on this, but my son’s teacher just told me everyone in her class was able to receive 2 books because it was BOGO. leftover cash money is going to another class. Your digital donations were spread out over all the remaining classes. Thank you all SO MUCH 😭

I honestly have no idea how it works. I’m assuming it’s probably approved on a county level rather than by school admin.

Cash donations were given to my son’s teacher this AM! It was enough to sponsor two classrooms. Thanks to y’all’s generosity, many more donated through the link. I’m hopeful every kid can walk away with a treasured book this week.

So I asked the librarian. She said the fall book fair is a fundraiser, this one is not unfortunately. Hopefully I can do more for the fall one so both kids and classroom needs benefit!

You’re exactly right. I also teach at a Title I school and some of the kids’ only meals are the free breakfast/lunch we provide. Same with my son’s school. When kids are hungry, learning cannot happen.

Exactly. I never thought about it this way until my son started attending a magnet program at a title 1 school. You are either a have or have not there, and the disparities are enormous

I know, and I love our library. I just feel bad that kids have to watch their peers shop while they get nothing, Y’know? It’s not the lack of access to books, it’s the lack of equal opportunities because they cannot afford to buy a treasure for themselves. 💕
