I salute your channeling of my late father, king of the terrible dad joke

It's weird that more people don't talk about those red numbers in the corner of your vision that are always counting down.
I'm sure it's only a matter of time. Though possibly not before it falls into the street.
No doubt another fine example of someone's "property rights".
A picture of a disused building with an old sign saying Pauline's Fashions. Through the window you can see that the floors etc inside are missing.
Not sure how I hadn't noticed before that the entire inside of this building on Parnell St is missing.
I believe the screening room was only part of the original cinema.
I think there's something residential directly over the Tesco (or at least there's a door beside it) but there's a HUGE warehouse-y building out the back that was the main cinema. Was planning permission in for apartments a while back but I don't know has there been any movement.
I think my first 18 cert was Maurice when I was 15, and I suspect it was only 18s due to The Gays.
Though obviously nothing compared to some of the things that happened back in the day even to "nice" kids in "nice" middle-class schools, my Mam was once hit by a nun with a chair leg for taking an unauthorized bath...
Yes, it was still legal up until when I was in first class I think? Definitely remember getting hit with a ruler for writing on a desk.
Oh he did. Apparently a lovely school now with nary a random beating, also, girls.
In a descent from its former "glories", the lobby is now my local Tesco and the actual cinema bit is one of our area's many exciting derelict lumps.
"It was similar to our universe in all respects except one: Twink had a beverage"
As did my dad! A place he was not fond of due to the prevalence of being, eg, lifted up by the ears by Christian Brothers. He was also nearly expelled for forming a soccer team...
I have no memory of this, is this some sort of Mandela effect alternate universe timeslip thing?
I think I only ever saw one film there even though it was the nearest cinema to my house, due to it being extremely grotty compared to the glamorous surrounds of the Savoy, Adelphi, etc.
Also wondering what else I'll be afraid of by the end of the season (last season had me very concerned about corridors, also, doors).
I have just listened to the new episode and it managed to make my sunny walk home from the shops past the trees in blossom feel like it was just a thin veneer of normality over something deeply unsettling (complimentary).
(and not, as autocorrect attempted, THE SEEDY BITS)
Two years too early for me to have been getting the shift upstairs on the way home from music lessons though. 20B: THE SEXY BUS.
Ha! I remember the conductor on the 20B, I didn't remember just how long he hung on after all the other routes.
Though I could well have been on it as it was one of my local routes! Good old Twob.
The whole idea is horrific.
*buys instantly*
You can just imagine what people are going to chuck up to cash in, given the level of planning enforcement here. I'll be looking out my back windows with great interest...
But of course raising property values == WAI for the current government. ๐
And yeah, the "but for family members ... oh actually after a few years it wouldn't make sense for family members to be in it so it's just *common sense* that you can rent it out to desperate randomers" thing nearly caused a minor apoplexy.
(also needless to say I am not going to rent out my shed to people, I need it for my ultimate plan of hiding from my teenagers in it drinking cocktails)
I mean, it'll probably enrich *me* somewhat because my garden has independent access (and the current shed/garden room is already pretty nice), so will affect property value - needless to say I DO NOT WANT TO BE ENRICHED IN THIS WAY, I WANT PEOPLE TO HAVE PROPER HOUSING.
Collins is trying to make out that international protection applicants are competing with Irish people for housing. This is not just not true, it's disinformation. A shameful racist lie.
