Anna Anthropy used video games to tell her own story as a trans woman, creating Dys4ia—an autobiographical game about hormone therapy that changed how we think about games as personal narrative.
Brenda Banks became one of the first Black women to animate professionally—working on The Lord of the Rings, The Simpsons, and King of the Hill.
Before "game designer" was a title, Mabel Addis was writing stories you could play.
Before animation was an industry, Lotte Reiniger was directing features.
Women and their contributions have always been a part of the animation, VFX and gaming landscapes.
The short-lived program also recently produced a gold winner in the 2025 Student Academy Awards in the alternative/experimental category.

💔The four-year-old master’s program will be dissolved June 30, leaving students confused and grieving. Current first-year students in the program can still achieve the degree by taking substitute classes or transferring to another School of Cinematic Arts program.
