I agree, we are (especially those into alt and metal beginning in the 90s) pretty gatekeepy. I’m old and crotchety and, for sure, a music snob, but at least a well rounded one. My son only loves her because of her 90s aesthetic.

1. Are millennials (particularly those in their 40s) gatekeepers in general?

2. Do most Gen Z know who she is? My Gen Z kids wouldn’t know who she was if it wasn’t for me.

Hot take: Courtney Love was recently interviewed on Billy Corgan’s podcast and she stated that millennials hated her and were gatekeepers of music, while Gen Z loved her.

When I was a student at UT, I had an assignment for my History of Rock class to write a persuasive paper on who should get inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. I wrote about Soundgarden. At that time, they were barely eligible. 20 years later… it’s about time 🤘🏻 Long live Chris Cornell. 🖤

Proud parenting moment: my 14-year-old autistic daughter has never been a fan of music. Animation has always been her thing… until she very recently discovered Gorillaz and now Blur. These are a couple drawings she made. She does everything freehand.

Alcohol is terrible for depression. It’s quite literally a depressant. I have maybe 1 drink a year now and it’s one of the best things I’ve done for myself.

Energy drinks are also bad on your body but not necessarily mental health, depression-wise unless you also suffer from anxiety.
