And like you dont wanna reframe a whole persons art based on just their trauma but it does reinforce some feelings ive had of the band, this super fun wacko band but still being pretty revealing about this self destructiveness and frailtiy in this crazy ness.

Saw the Butthole surfers documentary yesterday and it was really great, so much fun, painting both a flatering picture of the band while also never shying away from their flaws and also revealing alot. Both the fact they are a very gay band, more than i thougth but also some like darker stuff.

I assume everyone in that thread is deeply distraught about the horrible genocide going on and western imperialism and so on, but even thought everyone probably fundamentally agree are in a match of who can be more epicly snarky and play with semantics to accomplish nothing because nothing is said.

The kinda threads where someone says something factually wrong (the video does mention those things) but can't admit its wrong, then it's just an endless debate about nothing because the goal post moves to wherever can continue it, i think it shows a real futility in online discourse and debates.
