The book Perfecting Sound Forever by Greg Milner is fantastic. It’s explaining things I’ve noticed by ear but didn’t know by facts. What this book is to the history of audio recording is like what the book Inverting the Pyramid by Jonathan Wilson is to the history of soccer tactics. Just great.

I was in Death Valley recently and I have to say that Tony Conrad and Faust is the perfect accompaniment for the 40-minute drive from Furnace Creek to the Artist’s Drive and back. A wonderful, weird experience .
I found a NM original copy of Butch Hancock’s Diamond Hill today. This album is really, really great.
RIP George Lowe
Your whole career was amazing, but it would've been legendary even if you'd only executed this line reading:
this haptic display absolutely rocks. basketball is for everyone.
All I'm saying is that we've never been more ready for an unprecedented fourth wave of ska.
I put on Sloan’s album Navy Blues and I had forgotten how much I enjoy their music.
Milford Graves Full Mantis
Ava Mendoza’s first album, Shadow Stories, is making me wish I could play guitar better than I can. She’s really impressive, even early on.
I don’t want to make a fuckin account to use my toaster. I don’t want to fuckin subscribe to software. I don’t want to create a fuckin profile to watch TV. I don’t want to fuckin register my whatever to unlock whatever. I don’t want to download a fuckin app to access anything. Death to new logins
Perfect. Perfect for working out or not working out.
Dimension Intrusion by Fuse (Richie Hawtin)
🎧 We should all be talking about this amazing disco-funk record that was released by Razor n Tape recently. It’s so smooth. Like, the world might be ending, but the party won’t stop. #musicsky #funksky

This is excellent
Using Spotify is incompatible with loving music. Every stream is another nail in the coffin of some indie musician's career. It is legalized theft.
Don't use it.
Don't share links to it.
Don't re-post links to it.
Avoid those that support it.
Buy music!

“there is one subset of men who out-enroll women. Which subset might that be?
Gay men.
While only 36 percent of US adults have bachelor’s degrees, 52% of gay men do.”
Masculinity norms are one helluva drug
Same and agreed. I also appreciate good singing much more than I did when I was young.
One of my daughters was stuck when working on an essay for school today. I’m going to tell her to try this the next time she is in a similar situation.
Time once again to share out the greatest unofficial Christmas comp ever, the Lux Interior mixtape _Jeezus Fuck, It's Christmas_! If you haven't heard this, you need it.
The Last Samurai by Helen DeWitt, which I’m currently reading, likely would be too difficult for a book club, but it’s also difficult to read without talking about it with other people.
Great album. The veiled threat in “Yellow” is funny.

This skit, All Dolled Up, from Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job, might be my favorite thing. I love it no matter how many times I watch it.

The In a Christmas Groove compilation put out by Strut is excellent.
Eyes Wide Shut is a Christmas movie.
One of the great bands ever.
This is the most ridiculous thing ever and also the best ever use of LinkedIn.
And of course Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses
