I wonder if it's gonna be a full collapse or bifurcation into the haves and the have-nots. Bad either way.

Depends. If we're still running a large enough trade deficit and or foreign creditors still believe we're a good credit, then it's not beyond the realm of possibility. We'd probably have to let inflation rip for a while to inflate away a bunch of the debt (see being a good credit, above) but doable.

China halts delivery of Boeing aircraft and all aircraft parts from the US, one of major, higher margin exports.

Meanwhile, the Dow is up. SMH. The whole world's gone mad.

I wish we could do something modest, like Brexit, instead of whatever madness this is.

The Coming Bloodbath at the Department of Energy More than 2,500 employees have applied for a buyout program. The departures, if approved, could gut the agency’s in-house bank and manufacturing office.

NEW:

At least 2,700 employees β€” roughly 17% of its staff β€” have applied to resign from the US Department of Energy.

The departures could gut the agency’s in-house bank, as well as its offices focused on bolstering the power grid and U.S. manufacturing.

It’s been a full week, and not a single penguin has backed down or sold out. Could there be a lesson here for America’s law firms and universities?

Scientists recreate brain circuit in lab for first time Research breakthrough promises new treatments for severe pain

It's kind of poetic and fucked up that scientists recreate brain cells in a lab, and the first kind the make are pain cells. C'est la vie petri dish brain. www.ft.com/content/f8d5...
