In for a penny, in for a pound: I opened up the entire center front, and eeked a bit more bust room out of some other seams. Then I had some minor corner mitering tribulations last night, and decided that I need to Walk Away.
Officially, there are only 4 seams and some tacking left. Wish me luck!

So now I'm stuck, trying to decide how big of a project I want to make out of mending a 6mm tear...
Plot twist: because this was a mockup, there is actually a couple inches of spare seam allowance in the center front. However, utilizing it would require resetting the center front godet, and expose more of the patch job I had intended to hide in the seam allowance, neither of which I much adore.
I thought I would add a couple of criss-cross pieces near the bottom of the neckline, to reinforce it. The plan was similar to what can be seen in the first picture, which is actually the front of my bra.
When I had it on to mark this, it seemd like it wanted to be let out a little bit...
Seriously, I think I'm going to try to foist the rest of these off on someone else.
I don't even want to finish this one.
I'm layering some fusible web, and original fabric to cover gaps left by the disintegrated threads. I decided to go ahead and also add small squares of stabilizer on both sides of the neckline, because that area is under more strain than should probably be trusted to 2 layers of silk habotai.
My first step was to disassemble the area, and press it, to get an idea of the damage.
Right where the seam ends, I can see that the warp threads have pretty much given up on life.
The pull needs to be stabilized so it doesn't get worse, but I'm averse to seaming in a new piece of fabric. So...
I've added pockets, and refitted it a couple of times over the years. The most recent time I wore it was a hot day, and there was higher than average stickiness involved in taking it off. The neckline was damaged right at the bottom of the V, and I've decided that today is repair day.
I love this dress.
It was made as a wearable mockup for my wedding dress, and I have worn it as often as I felt like I could get away with it.
It's something that always sounds like it would be exciting, and I'm impulsive; Therefore I need a rule.

I really need to stop buying alcoholic beverages that purport to taste like baked goods. It just doesn't work for me.
Your call has been answered! You have at least one fan now.
To be fair, I'm not sure I can be judged for missing something on a website I haven't logged into since we got home from #GenCon last year!
Maybe you can sneak me in under your coat.
Pumpkin Pie PSA: it's ok to just use premade crust and the recipe from the back of the pumpkin can. It's delicious, and easy. My one fussy concession is using a crust shield, but one could do the job with foil.
This recipe is for 2 pies, but is easily halved for just one.

It only took twelve years to get my husband @bauser.com dressed up for the Ren Faire, but I wore him down eventually! (And made him an outfit.)
