I will never forget doing his Agamemnon with a school cast in Athens. 'Batter the doom-drum, but believe there'll be better. '

@simonatk.bsky.social A happy feast to Vincentians everywhere.
Looks more like Eric and Ernie.
I wouldn't know. I'm always in church on a Sunday.
Oh, I suppose I was just thinking how very wonderful Stephen Graham was as the dad. But perhaps that's because I am a dad. And maybe it all depends on which episode one has most recently seen.
A wonderful mystery, the way the sermon always emerges from the fog, even when you've given up hope!
Finally saw Adolescence. I can't help wondering about the Emmy, and whether it went to the right actor.
Well, lots of lovely things in here, me hearties ... Aren't we lucky!
Grappling with the mammon of wickedness in a wonderfully quiet house: what early mornings are for.
I'm happy to hear that. (We're having fish and chips later, and I'm hoping the batter is going to do something for my bubbling soul.)
Thank heaven the Oblate didn't get into Cambridge. The Times says that O & C have slipped down the order, while Durham (where he is going) gets bronze. Good job it's all league-tabley nonsense.
Some astonishing pics from the woods this morning, taken by my friend rebekahcwhite. See more on her insta.
A grey but otherwise glorious day; the bluebells are holding their own, a purple froth on the all-surrounding sea of green; and a good friend to drink beer with in the Plough. Bliss.
I am sorry, Blue Sky. I just haven't managed to wean myself off the other place. And, to be honest, I've pretty much completely lost interest there, too. Maybe sharing my trivial opinions with the whole known world just doesn't float my boat any more. What can I say?
I know the Ang Lee Sense and Sensibility so well, and love it so much, that I find the reading of the novel a bit of a drag. This makes me so very sad.
I'm not sure a school jersey would be quite that blue. Surely this is just a young gentleman's recreationwear.
It's a strange feeling, lying sleepless in bed and longing only to get up, drink coffee, and write Sunday's homily; which will in part be about the deep sleep of Adam and of Christ.
Ο κόσμος καίγεται και το τέτοιο χτενίσεται
So. Saw Conclave. Okay, even good. But not a film with awards coming out of its ears, in my view. I'd probably still choose Shoes of the Fisherman or The Two Popes for my favourite #papacy movie.
The sun shines brightly on a dog- walk in the slightly less muddy woods. The days are already living up to their lenten promise.
The artist formerly known as Caligula.
Gosh. Mint tea is about as much self-destructive fun as I ever enjoy myself. Thinking the prosaic exotic is key.
I agree. I like to 'read the paper' without needing any inverted commas. (I used to quite like it when the ink came off, too.)
Turks and Greeks. Another success story.
@churchtimes.bsky.social duly read. Always a tricky experience. ('A duty to read; a sin to enjoy,' they used to say.) @petergraystone.bsky.social was the best bit by miles: glorious, gentle, self-deprecatory wit.
That's the quair strong cup!
Well the C of E is baring its soul (sic) all over twitter, the haters are hating, and others are wondering why so many are hiding under the Bluesky duvet. Humph.
I have at last finished this odd novel. Not unlike Decline and Fall, it is relentless in its slapstick tumbling. Its creator could certainly write comic prose, if perhaps a little too abundantly.
Last night I met one of my larger and more striking parishioners. And he was a gentle as a lamb.
And tonight, 'Hail gladdening light of his pure glory poured.' What riches!
