When your heart is full of vitriol it's so much harder to post on bluesky than it is twitter.

I'd say the really noticeable thing about the situation is that it reveals too much about the inherent theater of politics. It doesn't really matter a lot of the time the quality of the speech politicians give because there's enough social pressures to guarantee they'll receive applause regardless.

I don't disagree with you, but saying "please clap" was a terrible way of doing it. If he had just said "thank you" instead he would have gotten the applause because that would have signaled it was over. Wikipedia's entry is misleading because the silence was a result of the audience being unsure.
