Willis Manor took a couple of years. I had trouble getting it just right, and had to take many breaks.

I seem to find it easier to write stories with minimal fantasy elements... also I find writing sad stories easier lmao

The thing about still being relatively new to writing seriously is that I'm still learning what kind of stories I can write quick, and which ones I need longer to plot out

Oh of course, I love doing that in my stories.
My current MC starts the story with a return to his hometown. He's separated himself from that place, and found his own kind of happiness, but then has to face the place/people he kinda abandoned :)

It'll change from character to character, but I often come back to the feeling of 'settling'. Of a calm that allows them to breathe, and a clearing of chaotic or negative thoughts.
