Better Man was tremendous. It’s the best biopic and best musical of the season (sorry Bob, Elpheba, and Galinda). It was moving, entertaining, and crazy in the best way. Does it matter if you don’t know who Robbie Williams is? No. That’s why we go to movies, to learn about people we don’t know.

Jimmy Somerville put out his first solo record 35 years ago today. The formula was familiar: dance songs, a cover of a disco classic, a healthy dose of in-your-face politics, and a voice spun from pure gold. Familiar but good.
