have my doubts on Eddie being consistent. his motivations and actions change pretty abruptly and now we've had him 2 times suddenly be apathetic towards Dylan, the second time endangering him by being near him with the red symbiote, despite the narrative right before telling us a different story.

Charles Soule wrote the only good Venom issue in a long while (257), bc he actually has interest in Eddie and passion for the story.

Jordan D. White, Joe Kelly and Al Ewing on the other hand do not care for Venom, do not communicate, do bad faith readings and give condenscending answers to fans.

so Marvel fired Devin Lewis, one of their few good editors and who visibly upheld the quality for several symbiote books and was already missed strongly when he left that editorial. fucking damnit

and before anyone responds with a bad faith argument about how Eddie would suck as a dad: i never thought he would be a perfect, but he is (should be) at heart enthusiastic.
First Host showed it well; he's aloof about how to raise an alien kid, yet is eager. write about that!

at a certain point they'd have Dylan + characters around him bring up his "father" and it abuptly only meant the venom symbiote. neither of the Brocks even thought ab e/o much.
Dylan Brock is most interesting as a young reflection of Eddie (& i'd argue Anne). removing that connection is just absurd.

what does Eddie do the second time they reunite? make it clear to Dylan that he only visited him to know where "Venom" is.

in Venom (2021) Eddie went through essentially the 7 circles of symiote hell and whatever goblin limbo was, to find Dylan back.
what does he do when they reunite? yell at him "WHERE IS VENOM!!!" 🫩

one of the few good things Al Ewing's Venom runs have done is at least ignore that retcon and re-establish Dylan and Sleeper as siblings (even if it's after making Sleeper and ""Venom"" go on weird anti-neopronoun rants and turn male, so now they're Brothers).

Eddie Brock has since early on been SUCH a dad. (also him saying 'my boy Carnage')
protecting innocents was his schtick & he was even open to father his symbiote's spawns.
Donny Cates def started the trend of Eddie being weirdly resistant at first to being a dad + retconned him being Sleeper's dad.
