Trump's gutting of AmeriCorps hits hard, for both volunteers and communities The Trump administration slashed funding for the national service agency and fired most of its staff. 32,000 people, mostly young adults, were forced to stop work immediately.

When DOGE decided to cut $400 million in AmeriCorps programs, 32,000 members and volunteers had to stop their service immediately, leaving communities' most pressing needs unmet. These folks were serving on a variety of projects, from disaster response to education.
