This May Day, we’re thinking of how many people’s lives were upended by DOGE’s cuts to AmeriCorps funding. One AmeriCorps focus area is “economic opportunity,” which connects Americans across the country with secure employment and improved economic security. This May Day, we’re ready to fight back.
Wisconsin joins the list of states suing the Trump administration over the #AmeriCorpsGrantCuts. AmeriCorps invested more than $30.3 million in federal funding to support essential programs across the state — these cuts would erode all progress made in the state so far!
Colorado joins the list of states to sue the Trump administration over the #AmeriCorpsGrantCuts. Just last year, AmeriCorps and its partners brought in over $10.3 million from local businesses, foundations, public agencies, and more — funding that supports real work in Colorado communities!
Delaware joins the list of states to sue the Trump administration over #AmeriCorpsGrantCuts. With 200+ service sites statewide, AmeriCorps programs in Delaware brought in more than $2.4 million last year from local businesses, foundations, and public agencies — these cuts put all of that at risk!
The Trump administration has halted $1 billion in funding for mental health services for children, claiming that the programs, which were established under a bipartisan law aimed at curbing gun violence in schools, are no longer in “the best interest of the federal government.”
States across the country are coming together to fight DOGE against these harmful cuts that only serve to disrupt meaningful progress in American communities that need it the most. AmeriCorps impact isn’t just about dollars; it’s about people, purpose, & the power of service to transform lives.
When America loses AmeriCorps, it loses hundreds of thousands of incredible people and millions of service hours dedicated to addressing the most pressing needs in communities nationwide. Cutting AmeriCorps will have dire consequences felt by all.
