It's not the search engine, it's the photo app on your phone if you're on Android, that's harder to avoid given how ubiquitous Android is

This is excellent posting & I'm going to piggyback on it & recommend the Pulitzer winning "The Black Count" by Tom Reiss
Its about Dumas' Dad, whose life basically was a Dumas novel & hard not to see where Dumas got a lot of ideas from
On the other hand one of my favourite (and coincidentally local to me I learnt later) authors got a publishing deal from her original work she was publishing there (Winter's Orbit by Everina Maxwell) and her third books out soon
Dude, the current ongoing case in romantasy publishing has the defending legal bills in the several million dollars mark and it's still ongoing
They're almost certain to win, and get costs awarded, but you're looking, personally, at years in court
Not worth it
And I’m going to circulate it again, because it’s a great example of effective visual communication, and that graphics often convey things more immediately than text does not.
Yeah, playing it in the late 80s/early 90s 2012 was the distant future
Now it's 14 years ago and everything went in different directions, and there's still no sign of Dunkelzahn coming to save us
Yup, took dog for long walk while she was in class and took some great pics. Don't have spoons to post them yet
Yeah, and it's also just 100% not a new thing or trend, 'mail order brides' have been a thing for, well, ever since mail order was invented
I think the moving there thing might be growing but only because internet
Another good use of alt text, gives the location
So when I see it and go "I think I've been there" I can look it up and go, yes, yes I have
North Cornwall so, y'know, the weirder side of the strange folk, but still gorgeous rocks
Yeah, dude has form for this bullshit, Torygraph is now more Reformagraph and completely detached from reality
Plus, no actual current owner so they're all just radicalising themselves into more stupid
I think it's the bit where she talks about being sent pictures of chairs sinking in mud
But yeah, my folks had a caravan for a couple years and we'd sometimes encounter people setting up a tent around a bigger car, it's fine
Before modern medicine, the life expectancy of a man who reached 20 was ~70, for a woman it reduced per pregnancy
But the life expectancy at birth was ~35, because you were VERY likely to die as a kid
70 was of course reduced for poverty, murder and warfare, but not by as much as you'd think
tl;dr Brave was created by a guy who got kicked out of the for-profit part of Mozilla for being too for-profit and corrupt, so he created a browser that was focused around manipulating advertisements to divert the revenue and then threw several crypto scams on top of it when that failed.
Modern lyocell process is fine tho, and the polution was mostly a matter of choice (same company was allowed to do horrors in the US but heavily regulated over here)
I'm wearing bamboo viscose at the moment, it's basically fine, but yeah, cotton is harder to get these days :-(
Oooh
Suddenly some of the toys of my childhood, owned by friends, make a LOT more sense
(yes I am trying to catch up on Star Wars knowledge after nearly 30 years ignoring the entire franchise)
I have done both
This week
I keep buying new lamps for my room so there's always one in reach if I've lost something, it sorta helps
Yeah, so much of your food is actually good
But then you have cheeseburgers and snickers salads
The huge variety of things you can do with maize corn is still surprising me, it's just not crossed over to us in the same way yet
There are other, paid and most say better options that aren't Andreesen's money laundering operation
Substack exists to give billionaire money to fascists, everything else—including you—is a cover for plausible deniability
Staying is up to you, but eyerolling at people being polite but honest?
Oh, there's some journalistic, um, embellishment, it comes from a known collection it just hadn't been digitised/released before, the guy's honest about it on his channel but the clickbait gotta clickbait
Hmmm
A Deep One
Metalhealth matters
Yeah, I mean we're both mostly online here, but with very different circles and she actively avoids some stuff
Sometimes our conversations are things like "you might want to mute the name X" or "fucking hell the dipshits did what???"
Such a common thing in songs that tell a story, people still try to figure out who Jarvis's girlfriend was in Common People and he's on record as saying it was just a conversation in a pub the rest is made up
But no, must assume whole thing is completely true, songs don't lie!
Retirement goals? Are there any liners left doing the route?
Yeah, "unique nature of this sustainable material" covers anything from 'eco friendly no poisonous chemicals' thru to 'lazy cost cutting bastards' and there's no real way of knowing
I'm sat here playing Civ6 and reading this. Civ7 is something I look at and just bounce off each time, worth trying again soon then?
a large ornamental fruit tree, cherry or plum i'm not sure which, covered with pink blossoms on its lower branches & white ones higher up. it is large enough to cast shade on much of a lawn and part of the sidewalk. There are clumps of white flowers from ornamental plants blooming at its base
i love them! i found a really big one that was pink *and* white yesterday 😻
A huge cherry tree completely covered in puffy pink flowers
My parents have the most beautiful (I think cherry?) tree in their backyard and this week it just exploded with color.
View along a river on a sunny day. There are trees in leaf on the banks.
A path covered in fallen pink blossom.
Sunny #UnconfinedWalks along the river and along paths of petals.
Yup-snowdrops=it's coming
crocuses=nearly there
cherry=IT'S HERE (you can put your winter coat away)
Plus my dog loves to do zoomies on a carpet of cherry blossoms
